The server currently uses the proxy too often.
It would really help to see matching logs of such instances.
If you suspect the proxy to be used in error, please submit 2 matching logfiles.
(If your port is properly forwarded in your router or upnp is working then you should
in general never have to use the proxy with anyone)
typing in the lobby chat can help to correlate the local clocks of players which can be expected
to diverge a bit. (after the proxy connection is established of course so that the messages get through).
only forever.log is required.

Nombringer, i did told you about upnp on faf chat.
I bet you 5€, that your AV with firewall/windows firewall f**** has something to do with it.
an app Upnp request most times trigers the right stuff on software/hardware

not to mention that most people set port forwared without reserving the computer IP, so, computer changes IP, port forward makes sh***.

So been playing around with noms computer this afternoon. Port forwarding him did nothing but when we removed that and set upnp in faf it started connecting without the proxy. So here are forever.logs of the connection with no proxy if they can help at all. (I am using port forwarding)

No idea what the difference between port forwarding and upnp is to make this work.

the command isnt correct. my bad. please use:

stunclient -m full -v 2 --localport GAME_PORT stun.ekiga.net

game port must be what you have configured in the lobby.

reports with stunclient output are better than those without.
if the 'Nat behaviour' and 'Nat filtering' lines do not change when running stunclient,
then you can omit that. i wouldn't expect any change over time there anyway,
unless the ISP changed their hardware/software.

So i can connect to people with forwarded ports? Ill see if i can get some more tests for the cases where its proxying and shouldn't

Deering-NAT <-> Deering-NAT would/should work.
Nombringer-NAT can only connect to fully forwarded ports.
Deering-NAT <-> fully forwarded would work too of course.

--> you 2 are out of luck with each other. its not FAF's fault.

i guess there will be an alternative proxy in the southern hemisphere at some point.
But that requires some extra coding (to choose the best proxy you have to measure
ping to all proxies). So dont hold your breath. unless you need only 4 liters of O2
for a couple of ... weeks? ... month?...
