Why exactly do you want to remove these two maps? I think Haven Reef has some of the most unique and interesting 1v1 mechanics out of any map. A good player truly shows his/her skill by mastering a map like this one as there are MANY strats to be used.

Why? If someone doesn't know a map it doesn't mean he/she should get a "get-out-of-jail free" card. To me, being "champion" means you should demonstrate superior map knowledge and a challenger to that champion should put in the time and effort to learn the maps if he/she wants to take that away.

Disregard the incorrect point I'd made about the 90 maps completely - 50 maps is a lot and puts all you people with 1000+ games played at an advantage over me people with 200ish games. Kind of doens't matter when maps are announced, you can watch a replay and sandbox a build and it's ok.

So someone who is more experienced should not be allowed to demonstrate that talent because it's "unfair?"

I haven't read any solid reasoning as to why certain maps should be taken away, added, or whatever you want out of this debate. I'm not trying to be mean here, but I think you are trying to get on an even level playing field by cutting out material you personally don't know while it's unfair to others participating in the tournament. As you can tell, I happen to like Crossfire Canal and Haven Reef so it's not convincing me...

I imagine it like people announcing their maps when they sign up and champions within some time period after they win/defend.

About map pool not so sure though, i like my freedom of picking almost any map i like and dont want it to be taken away. But on the other hand, Petric's shit uber reclime maps where he has 100% win chance vs me so... yeah :D But if we start to limit map pool it could go retarded pretty easy with some people left butthurt about taking off their favorite map so imo its good as it is now.

- the three maps that didn't piss people off get added, they're decent maps imho (I like Balvery too because I like intense ACU micro battles, but too much drama).

- removing Haven Reef, possibly Crossfire Canal and any other maps that are broken or imba, I know ZLO has a list.

- finalists have to announce their maps ahead of the final so you can't just get ambushed by meta knowledge - this happened at least once in each one of the four U1100 finals I've been in. AND/OR

- really cut down the map pool and possibly rotate it. Disregard the incorrect point I'd made about the 90 maps completely - 50 maps is a lot and puts all you people with 1000+ games played at an advantage over me people with 200ish games. Kind of doens't matter when maps are announced, you can watch a replay and sandbox a build and it's ok.

I think point 3 fixes pretty much all possible map problems to be honest.
