One of my install "no name" listings was something Microsoft, no other info given at all. The other gave absolutely no info. No info on the uninstall no name one, but that gave way to let the installer work for FAF. Wish i would have though to look under other names last weekend, but i really appreciate your help Ze_Pil0t

I need info so i can actually play again.

1. What needs to be deleted in the file section and registry to tell this software that yes, it is not installed and is fully uninstalled?

2. What is the deal with window telling me that i am trying to install from a network resource and is no longer available? I have never tried to install it from anywhere other than my own hard disk so wtf?

3. * I have ran multiple types of cleaners to kill the msi bugs. Nothing helps.
** I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled, nothing there either.

I tried to link up a picture from photobucket but it keeps telling me i cannot do so, looks too spammy for a new dude so no pictures of the windows.

Hope that helps those trying to help me. I am close to having convulsions here, need my fix lol.

Edit 6/29/14: Ran through everything i could think of, again just to be sure.

I noticed that when i am unable to find the file and i click cancel, another small box appears and says that the older version cannot be uninstalled. It is long gone, nothing to be had. I can click the forgedalliance.exe and start and play the game. Cannot even install faf lobby. Windows does not see any older version of faf anywhere so there is no way to uninstall what this software "thinks"
is there. I can only assume there is a file somewhere that should have been uninstalled, a registry value or something that is still there.

Try to install and it gets a good portion of the way through then comes up with a box telling me that it cannot find a temp file to finish. I look in the c:/users/xxx/appdata/local/temp and yep, its not there.

Told everyone the error in the first post. Tries to install but gets to a point where it cannot find a file that the install msi creates. I go to the directory it says it should be in and it is clearly not there.

EDIT 6/29/14: Forgot to mention what the fault adds in the box when it is looking for this temp file. This is great as it is not being installed via network but ran directly from the web browser, desktop, and many other file locations.

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" Then "Click ok to try again or enter an alternate path in the folder containing tmp8aqdp4.msi in the box below." Then it lists my path as c:\users\xxxxx\appdata\local\temp\

Hope that helps again, i appreciate all the info i may receive

That error can come up when you still have a FAF process running. It may not have closed properly. You could have killed the process in Task Manager. That could also explain why uninstall did not succeed then.

I would try to reboot, deinstall again (from wherever you installed "Forged Alliance Forever" and from C:\ProgramData\FAForever) and install again.
Save your replays first if you want, from C:\ProgramData\FAForever\replays.

I tried to update this last patch, i believe it was this past Sunday. Would just hang and never finish. (i waited some serious time).

When i cancelled it the second time trying, it gave some weird error about not being able to forward a certain set of ports 12000-12011. I put this ip on the dmz just to make sure (even though no firewalls were enabled anyway) and still failed.

Tried to uninstall, this hung also....forever. Never would finish.

Decided to take drastic actions and deleted everything down to the last registry key i could find.

Try to install and it gets a good portion of the way through then comes up with a box telling me that it cannot find a temp file to finish. I look in the c:/users/xxx/appdata/local/temp and yep, its not there.

What gives here? It seems the software for the lobby installer is making this temp or expects to see it but it never shows.

I never had any issues at all until this last patch.

Please advise because after all these years, this is still one of the best games on the planet
