I dont think thats a fair assessment, a TD has an obligation to be there in case of complications and to start the thing, just as a player who signs up, has an obligation to participate.

If there were complications and you couldn't turn up thats fine, but at least make a post to let us know, especially considering the director WAS needed in the past tournaments.

How can we expect players to consistently turn up for these tournaments, if the director's cannot do the same. It's fine if something comes up, shit happens. But going completely dark, with no communication at all, then expecting both that the tourney happen, AND happen smoothly, is naive, as well as somewhat disrespectful to the players who made the commitment.

We won't have these anymore. I am sticking to BO15 and BO5 series. Some seriously helpless people on FAF.

Yeah my first round opponent was afk at tourney time and with no sub's I just assumed I won by default.... Then I saw Gorton's post and stopped, some people did play their matches regardless, we should arrange it again for the same time next week so that its more convenient.
