It's just that I haven't played an RTS since the 1990s with Total Annihilation and need to regain my mad skillz
Consider this solved!

I've watched replays, hosted games (which I set up skirmishes), downloaded maps, etc. That being said, the only way I seem to be able to use FAF and bring up the main game menu in order to mess around in single-player mode (such as skirmish or campaign) is to
1) Log into FAF lobby. 2) Watch something that brings up the game over screen (such as a replay or tutorial) 3) Closing out the score screen brings me to the game's main menu
or 1) Log into FAF lobby. 2) Host a game.
I'm not always online and I'd like a more convenient way to practice on my own. In short, I'd like to be able to play offline and bring up the FAF game menu.
What I am supposed to do is: "The next step is creating a shortcut to the executable. Enter the folder C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin and locate the file ForgedAlliance.exe."
No such folder or file exists in my directory.
(I also do not have the lobby installation log folder [c:\ProgramData\FAForever\logs\] which is why I do not have any logs attached to this thread as requested.)
You might be wondering how I am able to play. Well:
1) I've purchased the game via Steam and it is installed in the standard Steam path [C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance]. 2) I've downloaded the FAF program and installed it in the default [C:\Program Files (x86)\Forged Alliance Forever] 3) In the FAF lobby, I've set the game path (i.e. Options -> Settings -> Game Path) to the Steam FA directory
I'm a historian, which means I know more about the Holy Roman Empire than I do computers. Do I not have the ForgedAlliance.exe or the bin file because FAF recognized I could play the game via my Steam installation?
