He probably installed a SCD mod (in his FA gamedata install folder) that alter some basic stuff, or edited some original SCD and make his game desync.

A log from both of you would be helpful if you really want help :

Desync when playing?

Hey, I like to play FA via FA Forever with two of my buddies, but one of them is getting desynced to us. We all receive messages that pop up every 5 seconds in the center of the screen if we click OK to it. It says the user is desynced and then it says Beat # #### in the bottom, the number going up each time the pop up shows. Is there something to fix this? It's weird because I have the retail version of FA while my two friends both have the Steam version, yet it doesn't seem to be the problem on my end, but the other friend's end.

I'm on windows 7, when we play I host, we have around 35 ping to each other when playing, FA Forever is version 0.8.11.

Also, the first time the one friend having desync problems and I played together it worked fine, but any game after that we started having desync issues.
