To clarify what zivew said - you need to set the ForgedAlliance.exe file in root:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin to run with compatibility mode to disable custom themes. Another user mentioned that having Stardock's WindowBlinds program will crash FA on launch otherwise. Disabling WindowBlinds is recommended.

did you have any problems starting FA on Steam.

I am asking because i bought a steam version and Fa does not lauch, no error, no messages. But the Supreme commander works.
I am running on xp, if it matters

rightclick in steam-->properties-->local files--> verify integrity of game cache

Hi

i did verified the files with steam, and the game DOSE work when starting from steam. also, when i start the game the task manager shows the game's process as "SupremeCommander.exe", while FAF starts a process called "ForgedAlliance.exe" that if i try to start the exe from windows also dose nothing

actually i did found out what the guy in the last reply said but i still cant get it to work, game works on steam and i redownloaded all the bin folder to be sure

Now the game works if i start it via Steam. And something new and strange:

- in the FAF folder there are 2 main exes: ForgedAlliance.exe which wont work
- and SupremeCommander.exe which somehow works and starts the FA (Vanilla is not installed).

So could i somehow tell FAF to use the SupremeCommander.exe and not the other one which is not working. Perhaps that could save my problem...!?

I think it's because you are using steam, and never decrypted the files.

Try to do a "repair" in steam on your FA installation, and run it at least once from steam to be sure.
