Main screen is 2560x1600, 2nd screen is 1200x1600 (it's in portrait). The game image freezes with some sort of non-moving flicker in it. Sound also stops. When I alt tab and return it's black. I can still chat though, but I can't see anything. At least my team still won and the other team wasted some strat bombers to kill me. On FA Lobby chat I told my team to reclaim my stuff long before that.

Been having the issue for a while where at some point in the game, though more towards the 30min + mark, the game will freeze and similar to previous posts, you get sound and a mouse cursor but no response. Alt-tabbing gives you EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) message in the window FAF pops up. Have reinstalled FA clean and updated drivers (even tried some of the beta drivers). Don't get any other major crashing issues in other games either.

I do run TV and monitor side by side, though I have tried it on a single monitor in the past and have had the same issue. No mods are installed except the ones shipped with FAF.

Latest crash dump and dxdiag attached.

EDIT 20/07/13

Just happened again, starting to drive me up the wall now as it's preventing me from playing longer games. Another log attached. Also wished it didn't happen when my team was winning.

It does only seem to happen when zoomed in a moderate amount.

Inputs still work, ie, I can chat, the other players will see it, but I won't.

i7-2600K
16GB Corsair PC-1600 DDR3
Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7 B3
Zotac GTX 580
Asus Xonar DX
Custom watercooling loop for CPU and GPU
No overclock. I built for silence as opposed to sheer speed.
Windows 7 64-bit

Monitor 1: 24" 1920x1200 LCD
Monitor 2: 20" 1680x1050 LCD

If I had to put a % on it, I'd say about 10-15% of my games die that way. It's annoying as heck.

I tried updating to the latest nVidia beta drivers, did not fix.

Other games (which admittedly run in single monitor) cause no problems at all.

G.Skill 2400clock 9-11-11-31 no overvoltage
x79 Extreme 6/GB
same ol' Nvidia GTX 560 ti direct CU ii TOP
h100 cooler with indigo extreme tim

so prime 95 checked out memtest all that and the crash is less frequent than on my old rig but still there basically one time out of two.

Btw I'd like to point out to people with the screen resize issue or alt tab issue that's not fa related, turn off overlay in mumble and you'll see it'll be fixed.

Same problem and same fix for me.

And the windowed thing from Carlos I have to try...

I use now the windowed mode and had no crashes since then. But I start with the window on one screen, making the first placements, and then stretching the window over both screens and pressing the "split screen" key. Making the first moves without split and on both screens was not possible for me...and still now, if I want to give units or ressourcesto a teammate, the ingame menu is just in the middle of the window - left half on one screen, the other half oh the other - not that easy but it works.

Regards

So you play dual screen windowed? Then split view the second screen once the game starts?

well i played windowed a lot of games now, and no crash , i advise u to try it . Having a map on secondary screen helps a lot during micro , the only disadvantage is when u start game , the first factory is kinda blind shot , after that u split screen and it's pretty good .

@Zep However the bug is still there just don't crash the game because sometimes when i select units (engies mainly )
the game slows down a bit ( like a small freeze , 0,2 0,3 second maybe ) , when that happens i think woow crash , than it continues normally .

Yes zep that's my conclusion also ,that is the error that happens all the time , but in this log in final there's some errors that don't appeared on other crashes , that might help someone who knows what they mean . Another thing i found out is that Forged alliance is not 64 bit compatible ??? , this is not a new issue lots of posts with similar problems on gpg days . What bugs me is that during gpg never had this type of crash and sudendly after starting on faf also the crashes started . My opinion is that some small change in some configuration triggered it , but i checked for changes in my pc software at that time and nothing seems to be relevant. What i've done know and still no crashes , but too soon to tell , due to that supposed incompability with 64 bits o.s. is execute FA in XP SP3 compatibility mode . If i reach some conclusion i'll post it.
