Yes, even if you generate em out of the WWPC pool. And yes, even (and especially) its the first round. Thank you.

A 5km map for the first round helps the tournament keep up after delay, sorts out the players who might not be of the calibre of the rest of the winner bracket competition, and launches the tournament into a good start point, we appreciate the concern, but i hope you understand why the choice was made.

Also, it hasn't been explicitly mentioned but as per the norm for faf tournaments, any player who completed their games are allowed to receive the Tournament participant award avatar, please contact your mod of choice and provide proof of playing (the challonge bracket will do fine) to receive your award. I thank all of you for playing.

And despite me almost not play FA at all anymore i'd still like to put my 5 cents here. I really hate seeing such maps in tourney pools, sometimes it feels like TDs dont even stress over it much and just smash in some random maps. I do get why 5km maps are in losers brackets tho but seeing them in winners bracket just makes me go 'meh'. And reason is that these maps are fairly low on skill cap. You dont need to be really good at this game to compete against someone who (supposedly) is. Just look at numerous ladder matches where some 1700-1800 can have a close game against 2000+ players, win or force a draw while getting massively outclassed the bigger and more complex maps become. Yeah, you probably want to kick it off in first round with fast map and cut off better players from worse, but i think its unfair for those better players to be limited by sheer map size. You can argue that a good player must be good at every map but being good at theta is simply not comparable at being with at say pizza or vya.

Aftermath
On a more personal note this was my first attempt as a tourney director and I would like to classify it as a success. Aside from some hiccups at the beginning and near the end things ran very smoothly, some of those hiccups happen every tournament some were... Unconventional to say the least but I would like to believe these aided the experience more than they detracted from it creating a fun environment for the participants that exemplified the spirit in which this tournament was created and a sort of style I wish to continue carrying forward.

A shout out to all those who participated, you all did very well. A shout out to all the casters and their viewers. Finally a huge shout out to all those who helped organising, a tournament is one thing but organising a tournament in 2 days is another thing entirely and without your help and support this likely would not have been possible, notable mentions go to Gently, Biass, Exotic_Retard, FTXcommando and YuriIvanov.

It has been fun and look forwards to hosting more tournaments in the future.
