Having said that if there is a completion of similar level to me that won't matter and I'd be more interested.

To me, format looked great for the upper levels but it still seems daunting, perhaps as a suggestion water it down a bit for the entry level with perhaps a map pool which is easier to play

Regarding getting more people in the wwpc. I've been lurking around the forums a bit, just reading really. I know about the tournament from watching older youtube vids from like zaphod, but I kinda thought that tourney format was long gone... Until I saw the WWPC thread was still somewhat active and I got a bit curious to get better on ladder to be able to play maybe. So, that's just how I kind of got interested at least.

I think making a bigger deal of the champions would go a long way to motivate people. Right now, I don't even know who the champions are. A little update on who beat who or w/e in the launcher could probably make some go "I wanna see my name up there" (bragging rights in lobbies/chat is a great incentive).

It kind of gives me an idea of the problems that our lower rated players are dealing with. Signing up can be a little bit confusing at first. All you need to do is post on the WWPC page "I sign up for ____ " in your case I'm guessing it would be "I sign up for the u1100 bracket". Then Morax will more than likely like your post. Then just check back on the page from time to time and Morax will post the bracket for that round of the tourney. Then it would be up to you to message your opponent and schedule your game. After you finish your game you just post the results on the same forum to let Morax know who won and stuff.

The tourney goes for about two weeks normally. The first week is for the one off games and the second week is normally the best of 5 against the current champ.

I hope that helped you a little bit! I do have a question for you though if you don't mind my quick survey. What do you think we could do as a community to help get players like you more involved in the WWPC?

However, despite looking through the WWPC post and the pdf, I am still slightly confused about how to sign up, when would my first match be, when do I know against who, deadlines and etc. I might have missed the info in some post and it's probably obvious information for someone experienced but I feel like there's a rather large threshold for me, and perhaps others, to even start. It's probably mostly a psychological barrier but it could be eased, I guess.

That is actually crazy as well. I sit just outside the top 200 and I am around 1130ish. This means that the largest group of players are not jumping in and playing. At any given time there are around 400 players online on FAF.

What I propose is at the least an announcement from QAI that sends out the link to the WWPC sign up forum page to just let the new players know that this tourney exists. I learned about it from Zaphodx back when he still did FA game play. I feel like reaching out to lower rated players and maybe just helping them through the process of signing up or just helping them not be as nervous would also help. Maybe we should make a WWPC Ask A Question sub-thread specifically for newer players to hop in and ask the veterans about the tournament.

I know nerves are sometimes the problem as well is time but the WWPC is the most flexible tournament that we host regularly and I know not all of the players that qualify for the U1100 bracket will have time issues whenever they learn a little more about it.

Let me know what you guys think about this! I am not a pro at this but I know that if we grow the bottom tier of the WWPC then the players will slowly get better and it will grow our upper brackets after time. Which would be awesome!

Like I said leave suggestions! I have thought about this a lot but I know I haven't thought of every possible solution to the problem.
