I'm an Australian tournament director as well FYI biass (ninja edit: and the reason I never went through with Aussie timezone tournaments is a hell of a lot of peak time tournaments that I woke up at stupid o'clock to run would struggle for participants, maybe I was being pessimistic about Aussie demand tho). Happy to help you Violet, either by playing in the tournament or doing TD stuff with you if Voodoo and Gorton can't do it (someone always helps with your first TD job) assuming it's not this weekend obviously.

As far as tournament type, my minor preference would be to run a single elimination Blitz tourny first time out, but I'm much more interested in doing whatever the Aussies, Kiwis and others on our timezone want to do, even if it's (snore) double elimination. Timing-wise, doing a weekend instead of Friday means Euros are more likely to play, and I guess night owl US (west coast) people are slightly more likely for a Saturday, but there probably won't be many US peeps no matter what.

I also agree this should be done. I know many Australians who cannot partake in tourneys as most are at 2-4am AEST. It would be good for us Australians to have a chance to partake in our own little tourneys. I have known many people over the last few months trying to set it up, so be good if it can finally be finalized.

I think this is a great idea. As an Australian having the liberty of living of living in Europe I always thought it was unfair for the Aussies on FAF. Plus I think the Europeans could also join in the tourney seeing as this would be in the middle of the day (though weekend would be the best time of the week cause of work, etc)

Hey Guys!

So I want to set up a more convenient tournament for the Australians /pacific area/ Asian area.

The first tournament will be a 1v1, no rating limit, as i'm not sure how keen everyone is for a tournament in this timezone, if we can get enough people for the 1v1 then i will be more than happy to host a 2v2!!!!

My idea is maybe to have the tourny on a friday or saturday around 6 or 7pm AEST with 1v1 double elim?
However, i realise that might not suit everyone so I'd like to poll you all for your most convenient time, day of the week, and also tournament style, so swiss, double elim or single elim so please answer in a reply below!
Also like this post if you are interested so i can get an idea of numbers.
