1) The Cybran T2 PD and the Seraphim T2 PD beam is invisible in the graphics view (non-strategic level of zoom where icons override models)
2) Cybran T2 PD has a visible "shell" icon in the strategic view
3) The Seraphim T2 PD has no "shell" icon in the strategic view

4) Seraphim T2 PD was not intentionally to lack the following:
a) A visible beam in non-strategic level zoom and in strategic-level
b) A visible "shell" in strategic view?

Is it 4) a) or 4) b) that's not intended?

The Cybran T2PD HAD this invisible beam issue as well. Those beams were continuous as well, instead of objects (pulse lasers). The same case for the Rhino heavy tank. The reason that those were changed was because of a more problematic bug, which is that the T2 PD and the Rhino missed 30-60% of the shots despite the fact that there was no obstruction like a hill at all.

The seraphim PD doesn't have that bug so it wasn't changed.

That's how I remembered it.

Anyway, I think all weapons fire should be visible in one way or another. The idea "oh you can't see the beam because you can't see the source" is plain silly.

Cybran's PD is weakest(not enough DPS to be threat), and Cybrans is stealthy faction and that laser just fit to it

Didn't Icedreamer (or was it Resin?) made a mod that attempted to fix beams? It worked for Novax and Neptune IIRC

you REALLY need to pay attansion to those sera t2 pds, cause you can't tell if it is shooting you or not, very very very very annoying

you often notice it when you already dead

if you are in strategic view, you will see nothing. Cybran/uef/aeon does have a visible "shell" when you are in strategic view.

It would be better to make the laser visible imo.

That's a good point, keyser (one how the strategic view doesn't show a "shell"), while the Cybran one does.

It could be a bug that there is no icon. It could be on purpose. We'd probably have to look at the game development notes from 2008-2009 to know why it is that way when the Seraphim faction was designed.

It really shouldn't be held under a microscope too much in my opinion. The simple solution is to understand your opponent's faction and be aware of this kind of thing:

e.g. don't make a fire base against Cybran with the intention of stopping MMLs, don't run a comm into sera t2 pds without being zoomed in so you can properly track damage taken, don't make an attack unless you know you can win else you'll just mass dump (mmmmm Monkeylord wrecks after trying to fight percies!).
