Radar & scouting will let you see which units have enemies ear, as well as completely zooming out will show you which units are taking fire (blinking or disappearing completely)

The problem is that units in FA not so 'active', as they were in TA. So, eventually my squads just stay and wait, when long-range enemy forces beat them up. And sometimes I don't know, where it's happening.

Homeworld's battle chatter system is quite a nice approach to this without being overwhelming.

Only for the commander as far as I know, if every unit gave notifications I think your screen/speakers would explode
After a while you learn to recognize the gamesounds so you can tell what is attacking you, but that's as close as it comes I think

Tell me please, is there in FAF notifications when your unit is under attack? Its very often situation when you are being attacked but do not know what exactly is attacking.
