This is about fixing the units illogical behaviour of often changing the target that was given to them by focus fire ordered by the player, which quite obviously should override any automatic priorities and there is no logical reason to remove these priorities given after the unit gets a new move order. It simply happens the way it does cause of lazy programming. It forces the user to depend more on luck (sometimes units keep their target depending on how much the units change directions at the time the move order is given) and annoying micro. I don't see how that benefits the gameplay in any way.
It is especially annoying when chasing an acu with an experimental since the experimental will prefer focusing a t3 unit or experimental over the acu so whenever you move it changes focus.. so you have to move a bit, stop and focus, move a bit..

It's not about the turrets. They can have the rate of the BP. But once unit A is locked on unitB, as long as unitB stays in unitA range, even if unitA move, the lock should remain.

Is that not simple enough to understand ?

I'm not convinced that tanks losing their target whenever they are microed is a key balance mechanism and not just a niggling annoyance.

you remove that, you remove one of the main aspects balancing this game and you start getting what you have over in planetary annihilation. go play that, you'll come back saying "nevermind, we could be much worse off, here's not so bad".

- was never told to focus on any target
- the current target has been destroyed

If the focused target moves out of range, then a move order from the attacker should clear this lock.

Oh and I know this has always been the way units behave. And it's time to fix improve this.

Domino created a mod which I'd like to look at polishing and integrating at some point, which allowed the player to paint specific units with a target priority override.
