Anyway. Where all this preamble is leading to is this. The FAF page for casts here faforever_d0tc0m_slash_casts (lol, as new user can't even add single link to faforever casts page) appears to be dead or unmaintained, it shows raw unformatted CMS tags and links that go nowhere. By hunting around though I have found quite a few casts/tutorials on You Tube, so it seems like the game is definitely alive and kicking. What would be great though would be if someone could create a central access point for all SupCom casts in a similar way to how this site links all the Dota casts dotavids_d0tc0m_slash_all.

Maybe it could be done as part of the wiki and maybe it could have a separate list of all video tutorials too. If you want to promote SupCom through games forums and You Tubers I think it would be really useful if there were a central location that provided access to loads of SupCom content that you could point people to.

On the subject of competitions, given how Dota has driven itself to massive success through crowd funding competitions (TI4 prize fund was $10M or something stupid). I think there might be some mileage in the idea of having fewer competitions with higher prizes rather than competitions every month for peanuts.

I've followed the recent drama involving the FAF servers and codebase and understand that there is new management handling that aspect of the game. Does the community have an official body in place handling promotion though?

We need to post these three links and the description EVERYWHERE. Gaming forums, strategy game sites, wherever!

Greetings fellow players!

If you enjoy massive scale strategy games then there is about to be a tournament you have GOT to get in on! The Insanity Cup!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgCkcV-G6s4

Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance is a fantastic game from the golden age of RTS, and it is still going strong over on the FAF client! Head on over to http://www.faforever.com to download the multiplayer client, and then follow the directions in the forum links that follow to sign up for the tourney!
1v1 tourney - /viewtopic.php?f=26&t=8765
2v2 tourney - /viewtopic.php?f=26&t=8766

Anyone is welcome, and anyone can win!
See you guys for the Insanity :D

Ok, rules for engagement.
#1. If you could, list sites that you have posted to here so that we can keep from double posting
#2. Post to relevant forums and sites.... don't post strategy game ads on FPS sites :P
#3. DO NOT ENGAGE IN FLAMEWARS!!!!!! Post the copypasta, and answer relevant questions... trying to argue how your game is better and they are all morons for playing anything else will not work.
#4. Please add formatting to the links and youtube video if the forum requires it. Double check for broken video and if the links work, and then you are good to go!

Paste it everywhere my friends! GO!

1. (The) Insanity Cup (come on, it makes sense and is great for promoting, e.g. "The Insanity Starts _____ " (could also reverse it but gets kinda confusing perhaps (the name that is ) ) )

1. Tournament Insanity

2. The Tournament (thats not a typo)

3. (The) Forged Alliance Dream Masters Tournament (perhaps no "Masters")

4. (The) Halcyon Cup/Tournament (GPG BABY!)

5. Halcyon Days Tournament

OR: Some Cool name involving either a unit or map name (original only!)

I need a name for the tournament though..... I am really bad at thinking up names for something like this that don't sound pretentious :D

Throw some ideas out there for what we can call this thing! And don't say call it the PIT...... Project Insanity Tourney. That name is the pits :P

I have decided on 5 brackets. 3 - 1v1 and 2 - 2v2 brackets. Hooray for team games!

This is counting on a 500 dollar prize pool, so if we can get just a few more donations in the next week we will meet the goal. Any additional money will go to prizes for fastest win, most epic fail, prize of the heart, etc.

Keep up the good work guys! only two weeks till the PR campaign launch.

The tourney account is looking good! We have a whopping 310 USD that has been donated, so a HUGE thanks goes out to all the guys involved with that! I was not expecting this much of a reaction from the community, and it is great to watch in action :D

Stay psyched guys!

If it turns out to be fun then that doesn't matter. It could make for some hilarious casts. Also, since the aim of all this is to acquire new players, it could be a morale booster to think they might get to play with high ranked players. Right now there is a problem of even getting into games for beginners and a lot probably give up.

On the tournaments topic, I really liked that suggestion of 2v2 Pro+Noob matches - dangling some cash in front might convince the pros to go for it :P

Huge thanks to the two guys who have already donated! For future donators, it would be nice if you included your FAF username so that I will be able to give credit. Also, if you give to paypal just send money, don't log it as a payment for goods. If you do that, paypal takes 2-3 percent of the total as a transfer fee :(

As of today there is 25 dollars in the prize pool, and 10 dollars going towards the upcoming ad run!
