Are you sure? I checked on the morning and it was gone. I'm fairly certain once you are deleted the page and the likes are gone. I believe you are viewing the replacement page. I may however be mistaken.

The suspicious paranoid side of my mind entreats you all to any who view themselves as the inheritors of FADs legacy with deep suspicion. If I were to orchestrate a FAF coup d'etat, this is how it would look

Personally - I got pretty frustrated over Zep's outbursts in the past - although I understand them. Sometimes we are all just having a shitty day.

That said - whether the client is up or not - it's irrelevant. All the recent episode highlights is the dangers of having a central FA authority (e.g Zep). This isn't the first time we have had issues with unilateralism in the community nor will it be the last.

In regards to the Facebook thing - I was proven totally correct - Zep went ahead (as far as I can tell) and deleted the page. Just way to rob the community of a strong 2k+ liked page. For what?

In my opinion - there are too many people talking about how things should be run - rather than actually just knuckling down and doing it.

And frankly there were far better ways for Zep to telegraph his unhappiness to us - what was done was a deliberate attempt to destroy the community - and no matter how ill-conceived or regretted it is now - it can't be allowed to continue. We don't have to have a pissing war over who is in charge now or who needs server keys - just either nut up or shut up.

Frankly, I'm beyond it - I can only see the humour in it now. It's a comedy of errors Shakespeare could only dream of.

My useless two cents:

I bought TA in 97, Supcom in 2007, and FA at some point later. Was never truly good at these games but loved them nonetheless. I had just decided a few days ago to give a proper try to multiplayer this time arround (as opposed to skirmish), and after realising that steam was quite empty, quickly found FAF. That's it for the context.

So basically, I had the chance to play(lose) a few games before it all went down.

Obviously, I have no knowledge of how FAF was run these past years, and merely looking at this thread I found that indeed, attacks were sometimes quite brutal.

However, when you get here for the first time (and so have no idea who "ZEP" is), what you see first is "Forged Alliance Forever / The community driven lobby..."

When I read that, well, I understand that FAF is what it says it is, driven by a community. It could very well have been presented as the property of the project's owner, and I would have been fine with that, as I really don't care about monthy patches (given my level, I'm still trying to figure out what is the point of HQ factories), I was just hoping to find a lobby that ran the game, which I found and was verry happy about, for a few days

What I mean is, calling something "community driven" (and furthermore, asking for donations), kind of imply that members of the community will feel entitled to a have a say in how the project is driven (given that it's supposed to be driven by the community :p). Indeed, the entitlement of some comes across as quite belligerent and antagonistic.

But serioulsy, just don't call it "community driven" and expect people to see it as one guy's property. I suppose many people like me would be happy with it anyway.

If I read "community driven" on a commercial product, I will think there's a good chance it's just a marketing buzz word. On a free to use product as this is, I naively thought it would be what it says on the tin.

It's just expectations management. If you say " I do that on my free time, it is what it is", well, nobody in their right mind would dare to complain about that. "Community driven", you open the flood gates, community members will expect to drive ...

100% behind Ze_Pilot on this. Everyone who wanted to assume some control over FAF from him, shame on you. FAF is not a company, and we are not shareholders who get a say in how it is run. It is a hobby and a passion of Ze_Pilot, and if you don't like how it runs, screw off.

I played so little, and sucked so much, but I still loved having the opportunity to play after GPGnet went dead. If this is the end of FAF, thank you Ze_Pilot for all your hard work and dedication over the years.

The one that have make the Open Letter To Ze_PilOt was what cause all this!

All you guys have show was that ZE-Pilot is make the right thing.
FAForever is only about play a game and showld be only about you join to FAF lobby and play a game.

But no !all the answers ,critics ,only show that you dont respect enouth Zep work since 2011.

Iff i where Zep and saw what you all have say about his options and decisions honastly i have made the same.

Lets hope 1 day Zep open again this epic lobby,that he create and you all just make one easy thing ....RESPECT HIS WORK ...since we all are play free without make nothing for FAF.

A Pause will make you all understood that we come to FAF to play a game not to make critics off what he showld do or not ....

Just want to say thanks to fantastic friends i have here some that where enemies and become great friends others i spend great games with them (DiamondXp,Scab,Joly,Misterwhite,vmsnake) the otheres where constatly swap names so i dont remenber ty to you all i will always remind you all even the players that hate me ,all great things to you all.

Zep i will never forget you all my life, this was the only game project i keep for so many years so you kind responsible for my hapyness .

I wish you Ze-pilot, have all that life got bether to give you .

Dear Sir,

I can hardly imagine the upset all of this back and forth negativity is causing you.
It is completely undeserved.

I do not say and i doubt you would either, that there is no area which requires attention, but it is undoubtedly an issue of we have the right to ask, you have the right to do or not do. Its that simple. Any demands for action on your part are nothing more than bad manners. Its like the guest over for dinner demanding more food and drink than you can comfortably supply.

In short, my condolences that you have had to deal with so much unpleasantness. I have always been and remain impressed with your creation.

I would like to make a request and suggestion.

Put FAF back online BUT,

Until such time as you feel inclined to do more, do nothing. No patches, no updates, zero. Just let FAF run.

You might be amazed to find that 90% or more of the FA Forever community would have no issue with this.
I for one am quite happy when a plane my AA shoots down doesn't spend 5 minutes burning across my screen! Its nice but not vital.

I presumptuously feel this would enable you to be at peace as feel certain the current state of affairs cannot be sitting well with you.

I´ve always been afraid for those days to come, where forever turns to never-ever!
i´m 39 years old now. It´s halftime for me if i´m lucky. The only reason to live, according to pc games or in general, is FAF!
Since it came to life or let´s say i heard about it, and i heard of FAF much too late, i believed in RTS again. I bought a lot of crap and so called good games, all the blockbuster crap, just to have something to calm down when i lost against someone younger and better.
but i never played any of my games just for it. They all are stupid crap. There is only one game!
ONLY ONE..!
Please, i beg u please, don´t kill the last of it....
