You can prepare against firebeetle drop exactly like against any other "air"-snipe attemp, 5 static aa around take out everything before it lands, walls around your commander prevent the transport from landing next to it/the beetle from running to it.

No keyser when beetle drop nearby even without the "tp glitch" the acu torso take physically too long to rotate to be able to build/oc anything. Only chance is to see it coming from far to prepare for it.

as I said, having some walls near your com, disable the snipe in the air, force the transport to get away to drop, then you have the time to oc. i've already done it.

i've lost 10 games having mobile flak near my com, due to mercy. I think it's enough for me to think that they are useless. Yes they weren't in front of my com (still got snipe with T1 maa just near my com), but when you charge with your com, you need it to be in front. (if you get your maa in front of the com, they got target and then you naked.)

yes mercy aren't op in 1v1, but in team game like wonder, you want to focus on getting upgrade, and don't have time to set up your own air. since you can't stop to build turret, you need air support. But you never can't trust air player. somehow scouting + target mercy is too much for them.

as I said transport is slower, and need sometime to land. + some micro require to use beetle drop.
to mercy snipe, you only need to check if inte are in the back, and if there is no turret. they 1 click and profit.

I can't believe you say mobile flak wont work at all against mercies but 4 mobile will deny transport drop... I think you have had bad experience with flaks my friend but usually it really works ok :) Vision + intel + unit placement makes most of the work, flak is just there to finish the job. (always get your own perma scout going from your acu to ennemy air base when you go rambo if you are afraid and dont trust air)

I think the TP glitch and the mid-air explosion are kinda cool but really feel OP and un-supcom-ish. I mean all units really suck at pathfinding moving and stuff why should we have one that actually work thats crazy

As a non-cybran player i never complain of my T1 mobile flak against mercies but cybran can be annoying. Anyway the counter is air first, flak second. You can kill 7 mercies flying nearby 2 or 3 intie with 0 micro... When we die to mercies it's usually not the fault of T1 flak, but the poor airplayer who failed to
1) scout ennemy building mercies
2) scout ennemy stockpiling mercies + killing them in base (even when you don't have air, let's say on a map like wonder, you can 99,99% of the time kill mercies stockpiles in seconds)
3) moving air near any friendly ACU going rambo
4) keeping air scouts in front of any friendly ACU
5) getting a decent line-of-vision in all fronts
6) moving inties in time when air bleep are moving

So only when our airs players play like noob do we rely on flak for mercy. The problem is unless you are onmumble/ TS and actually ask them for help most of them will fail at seeing what they should do to keep you alive. Not mentionning bullet points 1) & 2) even 2k+ player usually dont give a f*** about their supposed role in the game until they get T3 air HQ.

In huge quantities by using some T2 gunship or other high priority target to lure the T1 flak then it can begin to work a little too good. But again 1-2 inties and problem solved.

---

That being said i think beetle snipe is probably too easy and with too high success-rate compared to other similar solutions like T2 bombers / mercies. Especially if you consider cybran already has the only decent T2 bomber. At least remove the wtf teleportation feature ?

+ you can emergency defend it by building some walls, + OC

BTW, is there a way to escape them ? I suppose that apart from sending asap some anti-air, you cannot evade them once they land near you…
