Just enable all rings in game ui to see all unit ranges (Attack range, radar sonar torpedo torpedo def Missile def shield stealth even refueling stations and aircraft carriers have special rings that represent range where patrolling planes will be refueled automaticly, just learn about those range rings and you already will know a lot, but ofc for some units you will need to have deeper knoladge, database and testing units can help here too

I was enabling them in the beginning, which elucidated a lot about game mechanics, but since it caused and still causes disproportionate issues in game performance, I guess it became second nature to disable them.
There was even a time I was disabling rendering sky, rendering shadows, choosing low graphics fidelity, disabling map edges , choosing 500 max unit cap etc etc. So, there's even a remote possibility that pieces of knowledge have just been forgotten, since I quit and revisited the game several times during the past six years. And as we have experienced a bad habit is sometimes difficult to change.
There's a great advantage playing with rings, which above else simplifies microing units since their range is always visible, and maneuvers can be accomplished with great accuracy. But I can't be bothered with the hit in performance, so I d rather guess by experience the ranges(and lose some units in the process) than tolerating the pain of lack of fluidity. Nevertheless, I will follow your advice Zlo, at least in 1v1 games where my rig can tolerate "the rings" and I have no other excuse for not using them than my bad habits. Again thank you very much for your numerous efforts to pass important knowledge of the game to the community.

Misunderstanding about the term omni. In the video, ZLO does use an omni sensor, commonly just called "an omni", i.e. a T3 radar. That thing has an "omni" range that is smaller than it's radar range.
http://supcom.wikia.com/wiki/Intel#Omni
When you select the omni sensor, you see a blue line, which is radar range, and a burgundy line, which is omni range. ZLO marked omni range with wall segments. The range of omni of a T3 radar happens to be the same as radar range of a T2 radar.
Omni is also present (small range) on ACU, SCU, Galactic Colossus and spy planes.

Now this was educational! Thank you very muvh.

Thank you, confirmation from his highness Zlo.
Interestingly mobile stealth hides transports from omni too,.... hm extremely useful.

Omni has an inner and outer circle.

If the transport with the mobile stealth goes within that inner circle it will be seen.

No, they don't.

Even if it hides transports from t1 and t2 only it is enough.
I thought Zlo was using an omni in his presentation video, but anyway, hiding from t1 and t2 radars is more than enough.

Does anyone know?
