Something like this would be cool for Nomads to make them more different, like shield consumes energy depending on what it's hit with :P
like if you have +50k energy it can hold against a mazor

The resizing slider is an interesting idea ... actually you could have a few sliders
- size of shield
- health of shield

All of which affects
- energy consumed by shield

Domino and Resin already did that in their mod 4DC they also included factional diversity shields.

The Cybran shield, for example, only got up and consumed energy when about to be hit by a projectile the rest of the time it is off, useful and cool.

Which opens up a whole new thing that FAF never really had - configurable units. You could apply the same concept to t2 arty = fire rate and dps is configurable but also determines power usage. Once again, not sure if it belongs in FAF. Must be pretty hard to balance ... you probably just need to make the energy costs climb dramatically.

A single shield might react differently to different weapon types. Eg:
- completely nullify and absorb beam weapons, converting them to energy that goes straight into your power storage (like reclaim)
- reflect lazer projectiles (either back at the source or just randomly away)
- have no affect at all on ballistic projectiles

Maybe to protect your base effectively you need to build two different types of shields right next to each other.

Oh, lol, I haven't ever played Supcom 2 or seen anything about it.

What I mean is making the real effect the same, preventing damage inside the shield. It would just be the visual effect that's different.

Funny, because everything you describe in your suggestions is 100% like SC2, aside from seraphim ofc ^^
