That is a great idea, yes.

And now i want this function even more than before. Since Lame is spamming ladder 24/7 its very hard to get a different opponent... and i think i lost some of my interest to FA cause of this :(

Maybe some "advertising" of matches of the top 100 would rekindle the interest in competitive play or maybe not, I am just not so optimistic about this.

I like the idea of having a win/loss ratio for each player you challenge, but keep it separate from the ranked system.

Yeah its cool that you can play this game together with frirends, just host it and wait untill peoples join.
Would be cool too to play using same ladder rules against peoples you want to play... at least every know and then.

I mean, we can use the use the rank from custom lobby (the new every game counts version), but 1v1 has a lot of special rules tied to it -namely it's completely random who you face.

Let's just say people from Canada love the dueling system (and it's ranked) and start dueling like crazy. Naturally, they will mostly be dueling other Canadians due to time zones. Now our ranking system is flawed, your ability to beat Canadian strategy is marginally more important than your ability to beat anyone else in the world. Why? Their matches will dilute the pool and top Canadian players -who win more duels- get their scores boosted despite not fighting Brazilians that often. As such, Canadians will have inflated scores, but due to in-dueling (like in-breeding but not as taboo) might really suck on a global scale cause all Canadian strategy fails when faced with Brazilian strats (or whatever).

So even without corruption, this adds an unneeded flaw to our global rank. (And while I won't dive into this side of things, no matter how many rules you put in, there will be ways to inflate your rank with this system intentionally. Or perhaps more importantly, deflate your rank for malicious reasons. It's not that insane to think of a site where people looking to go down in rank (to stomp ladder matches later for fun) and people looking to increase rank (personal pride) met up to throw games.)

That said, the case could be made that this already happens. If only Canadians are 1v1'ing right now, the same in-dueling affect would be observed. But I least this has the chance for random Brazilians getting mixed in every once and awhile. Theoretically, with dueling you could never have to fight outside your group (Canadians). (Kinda like how all miss universe winners are from Earth... a joke but the point is the same.)

We'd have to limit that as well I suppose, but that seems more of a hassle then just sticking a 'random map like ranked' option in custom. That's a line of code basically compared to designing a full system that only a fraction of the community will use.

Just my thoughts.

i really like it
Make it like it was in GPG, so one player will only able to challange any player once in a day
so 2 players will able to play 2 games per day if they want to abuse something ...

and btw zep said that he will not have time to make that, hope anyone else can code it!!!

ya sure you get less points but you will hardly lose any game winning 10 games vs a 1400 guy gives you the same points as beating voodoo once, so overall if you have the time you could easy grind rating or you just challenge a friend who quits all the time. Im sure that will allow epic abusing.

so better we keep it unranked and maybe just display some sort of win : Lose statistic.
Like how often you have challenged a specific player and how often you won vs him.
