Interesting. Considering how easy the oblivion cannons are to avoid and how high the Aeon navy's HP is, I find that when I use Aeon navy I tend to bullrush into the enemy fleet and engage at close range. Given the Omen's higher speed and higher DPS than other battleships, I find it useful in this role. It's also somewhat similar to the Neptune when it comes to engaging T2/T1 navy, in that its higer rate of fire makes it more effective against lower-tier units than a Summit is.

I would say that given the Aeon's Tempest, they have their T4 battleship for long-range duels, and their T3 battleships is almost more of a heavy battlecruiser. But since the Tempest gets hose by a Summit at long range (especially considering Bulwarks) that isn't really the case.

Yeah, UEF navy is definitely strongest at the T3 stage. I just find it so hard to get past T2 with them. Valiants are terrible!

The torrent is good for shore bombardment but wont help you win the actual battle and the Omen is the worst battleship due to its range (100 vs 128 cybran/sera, 150 uef). Tempest is decent now and makes it better than cybran but I think UEF and Sera should beat it fairly easily.

I guess you could just put it for Cybran and say that Aeon is average

Really? I think the Torrent is really good, and the Omen is pretty powerful in naval battles. Where do you think they're lacking at T3 naval?

The aurora weakness is a necessary one, imagine how good they would be if you didn't nhave to micro them so much.

I prefer Aeon, but I think cybran is best right now. Here's how I view the factional strengths/weaknesses:

Aeon
strengths - air, good t2 units, air, land, and a (weak) sea experimental, dbl ras on commander, good shields
weaknesses - t3 land, no t2 bomber, aurora needs to be microed too much

UEF
strengths - good units from t1-t3, excellent upper tier navy, good shields
weaknesses - experimentals overall, slow

seraphim
strengths - great scout, good t1-t2 units, great t2 naval, great t3 sub, air & land experimental, dbl ras on commander, great shields
weaknesses - t3 land, no ras on sub comms

cybran
strengths - stealth, jester, good range of exps, telemaser, good units from t1-t3
weaknesses - shield sucks, comm has low hp

Personally I prefer the UEF, they fit my style the most.

I, too played around with all the factions before landing on cybran. I couldn't use the super slow UEF properly, and while I enjoyed micromanaging auroras and using harbingers to reclaim, I much preferred hitting weak points with mantis. Like for god's sake the mantis is just the strongest unit in the game! Spammable, fast, high DPS, and can repair my comm in the field? sign me up!

I'm usually fine with the T2 transition, It's just grab a t2 something (usually FB or naval cruisers) and then use it to wreck my opponent. It's not as good as my old T2 transition strats were as UEF, but hey, it works.

To be fair, I still need to try seraphim. I've probably ever only played 2 games as them, and that's including singleplayer. I just don't know enough about their units to get a hang of them. I know selens have the cloak/stealth combo, but I ought to try them out when I can.

I enjoy UEF the most at T3 though. Every time I hit the late-late game, I can only think to myself "God, why am I not playing UEF".

It's at the T2 transition where I usually run into trouble. I love rampaging around with the ACU, but my biggest difficulty is always the multitasking, so it's hard for me to compose and manage effective T2 formations while I'm going at it with my ACU and T1 stuff as UEF. I'm so hopeless at early game naval with UEF that on maps like white fire I'll just go for riptides with no naval fac at all!

When I'm playing Seraphim, it doesn't matter whether it's land or sea, I pretty much just need the one unit. And yeah, fobos are pretty awesome.

UEF and Seraphim ACUs have the same early game upgrades and basically the same play style, so there shouldn't be much difference between the factions for you.

I like to play as UEF because I think they have the coolest units, but I think my play style is more suited to Seraphim. I like to throw my ACU into combat early and keep attacking without stopping to compose a balanced force or anything like that. But I hate playing seraphim, their units are so boring!

After a break of several months, I started playing 1v1 with Aeon again. First battles were mostly losses because I couldn't put the micro and macro management together and also because I sometimes used the Auroras as Mantisses

Then you lose the Auroras as quickly as your opponent would lose his tanks when you use the auroras well. First really good wins (in which I used the Aeon truly as Aeon) came eventually, on Theta Passage.

I think I can easily play every faction's style, but it takes a bit of time to get used to it. Now, I'm used to Aeon.

Cybran tends to reward aggressive and high APM play styles. Seraphim is just bone crushing head on force. UEF is slow, methodical, and requires a mix of many units working together, but is ultimately probably the strongest faction in the mid-late game. Aeon rewards good micro-management paired with a late-game leaning strategy involving a lot of air, and is not really suited for early game t1 engagements.
