Being able to host your own games doesn't do much if no one joins them.

So what? It's not because it's true that he has to be corrosive about it.

Again, I'm 100% sure that everyone has a host game button.

Exactly why we need MOAR SETONS.

As usual, it seems a community is utterly ruined by rating. I just downloaded FaF, after playing on steam for a few days and playing on GPGnet a long time ago. So I have 0 rating. I figured I'd play some casual games before I wind down for bed. Only problem? I get kicked from every game because every game is specified by rating. Of course, they only decide to kick me after spending 15 minutes trying to get enough people and getting everybody to X up. What a wonderful waste of time.

I could play some ranked games, but that would eat up what little free time I have left tonight. Besides, I don't particularly enjoy 1v1 or ranked, I'd rather just play the damn game than get slaughtered by the kinds of diehard pros that reside in ranked, and then have it advertised for everybody to see.

I realize not EVERYBODY is like this, but it's things like this that really make somebody want to leave and not come back, especially when Steam multiplayer seems to be getting more populated and doesn't have these issues.

As others have said, you could just host the maps you want to play. When I was new I preferred multiplayer as well, and that worked pretty well. Also, as others have suggested, try twin rivers for a popular, slightly more open map.

If you're having trouble getting people to join, you can host as an all welcome. They should fill quickly. I'm not really sure what you expect people to do about it if they don't... people play the maps they want to play. If worse comes to worse, you could probably just play a few gap of rohan games or whatever, win them, then go up and you can join the other games.

There is a certain irony to you saying that you don't want to play with people of your rating because their skill levels are all over the place, and then complaining when others don't want to play with people of your rating...

Anyways, I hope this doesn't come off as rude! Welcome to FAF and hopefully you have better experiences in the future!

apparently I'm not used to how the wonderful FAF community and their silly custom maps they love play. Not sure why the only maps anybody ever plays are stupid large or chokepoint maps where it's just air and exps that matter.

Or maybe you are too sarcastic and they don't like that?
I'm pretty sure you have a host button if you don't like the maps that people play.

And to be perfectly clear: Sarcasm is not really tolerated. Respect the way people like to play, or go elsewhere.

I've been playing for around 2 months now and I've mostly played ladder, and I've been fortunate enough to win around 56% (not at computer so can't see for sure) which I doubt would be possible I've I was playing 'pro's'. There's a wide range of players in the ladder, and a lot of them are really nice and can have a discussion afterwards about the game if you wish.

Give it a try :)

- Host your own games
- Play Automatch
- Join Noob games

You complain about there only beeing noob games with noobsmaps. (-->lol)
If you are good then your rating does rise very fast, you can get 1500 with 3 games.

EDIT: Additional point: You would rather piss off good players and destroy their games and get crushed in a few minutes Oo XD? (radical formulated sorry but i think you should get the point)
