Seeing as I bumped: It would be wildly OP because the Aeon strat would completely outperform all other factions' strats at all stages of the game (early strat before enemy has T3 air, suicide snipes especially when you've won air but they have SAMs etc) when Aeon T3 air is already the best.

How do you know it would be wildly OP. It all depends on how it works. It could be intended only for SAM for example. And have huge reload time just to name some things that come to mind. It's pretty damn tough to get anything done late game with bombers, shielding, ASF swarms, SAM across the map, cruiser, strat bombers may very well be the last thing you choose for in current balance.

i was under the impression that it was quite buggy - and attracted all sort of projectiles and not just sams (even nukes!)
so that would be why it was removed (in fact i think that current aeon tmd still has the same problem but to a lesser degree)

also if its brought back and aeon strats are rebalanced then you can combine epic aeon strat defense with sera strats for a perfect snipe attempt!
(only in teamgames but eh)

so while it sounds like a lot of fun, im not sure it would be.

As everyone said above, it would be wildly OP if you didn't nerf the bomber in to the ground, effectively taking the way strats are currently used away from one faction so that it could have a SAM/Cybran ASF-resistant cheese plane.

I want it back maybe as a toggled/manually fired ability? Pretty much the only instance of an aircraft with a countermeasure.. It's funny how subs and ships have countermeasures, but aircraft just don't.

That was removed from the Vannila SupCom years ago... 2007 if I recall. Having a Bomber which could decoy SAM's as it was making it's bombing runs was very much OP. So the capability was dropped from the unit.
