Come to think of it... Cybran T2 shield is 9K hp, Ahwassa damage 11K, nuke def 4K. So that would be only one pass needed... :o

No, it's an old bug, you can check it out in steam version. It was fixed in community bugfix patch a while ago, but that fix somehow didn't make it to FAF. It'll be introduced in next patch, I guess.


When I was integrating the community bugfix patch into fafpatch, I made a point to only integrate the changes that were well-documented or those where I could figure out what they did or what they were supposed to fix. This means about 95% of the fixes... so I guess this was one of the minority that didn't make it :-p

So where is the double occurring?
It seems like the damage is being modified correctly.

Perhaps that modified damage is overwriting both direct impact and AoE so on hit (and since it's a personal shield both will hit for max damage) you actually take double damage. The fix being tying AoE to the projectile health/damage (whatever the updated value is). Or it's tied wrong as is.

Or there is a sneaky *2 on the modification step. xD

This is exactly the reason tempest pwn uef shield spam.. They hit right through with a heck of damage left.

Ambassador (3000dmg bomb) hits aeon shield com with 11000hp when the shield has 1000/29000hp left. The shield breaks and the com takes 4000dmg instead of the 2000dmg that one would expect.

A more obvious example is simply an ambassador dropping on a titan (1200hp shield/2200hp main). The titan dies as it is actually taking 3600dmg ((3000-1200)x2) plus the initial 1200hp of the shield, for a total of 4800dmg.

This creates a potential penalty for having a low shield of upwards of 3000dmg depending on the strat bomber used. It has probably contributed to some questionable com deaths as well. :o

In contrast, when a strat bomb breaks a stationary or mobile shield, the bomb is used up and if it has a high enough radius to reach the ground (such as an ambassador or revenant dropping on an asylum), the bomb does the normal remainder of its damage to the units (no 2x multiplier).

What do you think? Do I have too much time on my hands? :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek:
