I have had a similar issue where my units would not fire, dispite them being on the correct attack stance, however toggling holdfire fixed the issue

Ferdn appeared to be quite amused at this bug/cheat (unsure). See the attached replay on the far right group of Mexes from about 2:30 onwards.
