You can get a comp that will run this game well for 500 quid mate and I'll tell you what it's like a brand new game with all of the settings turned up. You'll be amazed at how much fun you can have. Life is too short for a slow computer, trust me.

Certain maps also work better for turtling, usually ones with choke points, and lots of mass behind said choke points.

or play labwars lol

I would disagree with this on the basis that Lamar's involves a lot of movement and standing still as in a trench war with sporadic fire isn't really an option.

Then I realized that it involves building a huge army of the same unit and sending hundreds of LABs mindlessly to their doom, which is EXACTLY like a trench war.

On the fact that you suddenly get the big advantage with an experimental. An experimental on its own is good. It wrecks bases and it can easily decimate T2 armies. However, it is powerless against the stronger T3 bots.

You can still use Experimentals well, even against such T3 armies. What you need is a good defensive position (A couple of shields, some Point defenses and some of your own T3 bots) and you put your experimental in it. It'll give a good amount of damage without sacrificing the Experimental's Hit Points).

In case of your UEF Fatboy, the effect of turning the tables is even bigger because those things just happily fire at everything in range, softening the enemy units up and letting your own kill them next.

You could try thermo. Games, Isis no rush x2, no air,, gap of rohan, rush me more etc.
There's a. Constant pop of players playing these maps each night.
Even if you play only these types of games, playing online will make you better, AI is only to.get you started, like the first gear in a car.

1st: all AI's suck (and giving it 3 times mass&buildpower doesnt change the fact that it sucks, it just makes it harder to defend at the start and denies any offensive actions)
2nd: Skipping 3 tech levels doesnt work vs a anyhow decent opponent so saying that T4 is wrecking balance is not viable, infact a T4 land will for example lose to T3 havybots masswise
3rd: In a "serious" 1v1 it's exactly like you describe how you would like it, try to grab mroe and more mapcontroll, raid your opponents expansions or rush his base, 1v1 games most often dont last until exp-stage.

My suggestion: play online
