This is an emergency measure to get the thing running again ASAP. The thread by Koecher is discussing the more theoretical side of what we might do in the future.
Oh, Ok. Well this unwashed person will cast his lot on the 15-20 range then.

FO how would that even work, their are so many variables and a lot of it is subjunctive.
Given Shadowknight's post I'll try to keep my theoretical musings short, in this thread anyways, but the experiment I'm imagining right now would be as simple as selecting a number of maps and then having them go for however long the experimenters decide is feasible (longer period is better informed feedback, but too long and our 'study' will never be finished), then issuing a survey to all users of 1v1 matchmaker aimed at asking them general questions about their experiences on the ladder. Questions that would aim to differentiate between the effect of the individual maps themselves and single out the effects of having that certain number of maps.
Obviously, the creation of the survey is harder than the actual experiment itself but with a team of people it should be possible for us to cobble one together that should be able to suit our purposes and be at least objective enough.Statistics: Posted by FatalOwl — 09 Nov 2013, 23:12
