I thought the Spring engine still had the ability to play through first person view of your units. It was there in earlier versions.

Also the game you are thinking of is Machines: Wired for War. Here are some vids on YouTube. I loved playing this game especially 2 years after TA was released. I really thought players would flock to it, especially to Warzone 2100, but I was wrong.

In it Mad-Mozart describes a dream where he is playing Zock on White Fire, at first a 1v1, then becomes a team game, then he loses when he goes to take a shower after reaching tech 2 navy  That definitely qualifies as a suitably zany SupCom dream to me. Said description starts at about 1 hour 50 minutes.

I also re read Type91's post which is very imaginative although does seem too elaborate and detailed to be a dream, it is very interesting though, especially the thing about everything in the game being simulated down to the molecule and the structures graphing themselves into the terrain.

There are two I can remember more clearly, but there are also a handful of TA dreams that I can't quite remember : /

The first one, I'm playing top rear guard ( seemingly the only position I can play at least 'okay' ) on a Setons-like map, and the opposing team is attacking all at once. Since I'm not anywhere near pro, It's more difficult to keep a 'calm', and I calm myself by throwing out single syllable expletives at the situation. I scramble ALL of my air forces, moving gunships forward, ASF's to deal with the StratBomber-ASF swarm, Torpedo Bombers to assist my teammates' dying navy, send off my StealthStrats to try and snipe a Bastard (Generic name for one of my opponents : P), Topping it off with two nukes aimed at the other navy neither my teammate or I had units to send to deal with.
it was a short dream, but memorable : D

Second, This one is focused around the bottom rear-guard of a Setons-like map. I was sent where I was for reconnaissance; There was no briefing on what I might find. I start out, make a base with several proxy and fire-bases around a central base, and I move at least five very large ground/air, navy/air, and ground/navy/air forces forward into the unknown. The whole time I was building up and watching, I didn't run into anything, but it felt like something much more powerful than I was was watching my every move since I gated in, making me very wary to even move-out.

And that's a peak into my dream-life!
Supcom = Happy Place : D

Mav had 2 harbs, and one of them used kind of "static booster": bolds of electricity strikes around harb, it looses his personal shileds, but can sprint 3-4 times faster, and it dashes to enemy army and grabs flack with his "mouth" and taking it far away from the army, no idea what happened next on that flank of battle, cause i was already playing on other side against zock, and we also were talking, and constatntly countering each other tactics, eventually he grabbed the mid, and managed to get 2-3 t3 mobile arty (we both cybran), he had no other t3 units while i had like 7 loyalists already, then adrenaline raise, and when i push all loylists die to t1 pd's with walls :D and i woke up in that moment
also map was like winter version of map "throne" but all chokepoints were smaller and mid was higher, and instead of montains were lakes...

Its very similar to what you described here, where computers and games are controlled with thoughts.

I often have dreams of the game, usually in a war of fruition where I am one step behind where I need to be, fighting a stressful battle losing more and more each minute, only to awake before I can pull it back out of my ass, just as I might have.

I must warn you, I have extremely detailed dreams, and just trying to outline it here will be long. (i've been to other worlds/cultures seen things I can't even believe could be made up, or fiction of my mind, things that are later found to be scientifically correct)

However read on if you your imagination can handle what I am about to lay on you. You just might not be able to play after you read about this one dream.

It was the distant future, in real life, and I was playing a version of supreme commander that I will make you sorry you where born in this century.

The game didn't even use a keyboard or mouse, oh no, in this time you played games by jacking right into your brain using a halo like piece of headgear, once in the game it was like you where sitting in the ACU itself, it used your motor controls in your brain to move the ACU and your commands to control the army.

Every unit in the game adapted itself to its placement. Nano-tech was being simulated in the game in real time, you could for example place a sam site at a 90 degree angle right in the side of a mountain, over time it would improve and grow into the mountain, growing stronger in its placement and increasing its firepower yield as the nanobots copied them selves and consumed the mountain rock at its base, strengthening its foundation and supporting more weight for missile racks.

Any thing could be built anywhere, (underwater for example) and the game would formulate the adaptations to the unit needed on the fly and balance the cost accordingly.

The world was procedurally generated, and could be as large in surface area as any planet.

All maner of units could be built, however higher tech levels needed lots of infrastructure of all sorts.

One of the most amazing parts of the game was that I remember it was not as much a game as it was a simulation with the game as an assumption. (like telling a computer to let you simulate the titanic sinking if it was made of a differnce type of metal, it would have to figure out all the stresses and breaking points and stuff based on real physics.)

So the game literally (some how) simulated every molecule in the water, earth and air.

Also you could make spaceships, remote yourself into any of the units.

Also units had amazing AI each one practically moved like a human was microing it based on the behavior patterns you define at the factory for it.

In the dream I remember I ran off to the deep ocean, my base was nuked, and I built my whole new base underwater.

The game looked as real as you can imagine, kind of like Pacific Rim almost. Which reminds me there was melee also, which any unit could engage in.

TLDR: minecraft 100 years from now, meets starcitizen, meets FAF, meets the Matrix, meets pacific rim, meets robot jox.

yes I had that in a dream and it was awesome.

SCU's at 4 mins Just reminded me of the vid because its an impossible level of tech for that time in the game which is much like the situation in the video after the guy gets Mothershippwned while attempting a six pool.

Then last night, lo and behold, I had a dream that I was fighting some sort of foe in a supcom setting. Just as I was starting to control the game, a door opened on the side of the map and a bunch of Breaking-Bad style gangsters came in and took control of my units. So, naturally(lol), I got into my Atlantis and dove to hide from the baddies, built strat bombers to snipe everyone and woke up.

So, thanks for that little bit of inception Flynn, I think your post gave my brain some ideas... and serious psychological issues.
