Then I got out of gaming altogether, and after college I decided to spend a few years as a starving artist. I slept in my car on many a night, and until this year, I'd still been lugging around the same computer on which I used to play TA. Now I'm 28, above the poverty line, and looking to get into FA, but I'm waiting until I can actually beat the AI consistently before I play on FAF... XD

Lets see, which year did TA come out? 1997? A relative of mine was a alpha/beta tester, using the 'Mplayer' client to get paid playing upcoming games. They essentially played Starcraft and TA side by side, and TA won out because of the overall mechanics and awesomeness. So, the first time I played TA I was probably four years old.
Then my whole family pretty much were squealing fan-girls when Supreme Commander was first publicly announced. We loaded that up on our machines the first day we could grab it off the shelf ( And they were the LAST ones on the shelf ). Lets see... I was... I believe I was 14 years old! A total Noob!

On an embarrassing note, no one in my family knew about the queuing or orders using the 'Shift' key in TA until I connected the dots that TA was created by the same person the made Supcom and tested it out AFTER Supcom's release.

Wow! How could you even play TA without knowning that!? On another note, how cool that your whole family was raised on TA :)

Also it's surprising how young some people were when SupCom came out, some of you that were 12 in 2007 would have been too young to have even heard of TA :) I practically got into SupCom because it was said to be TA's "spiritual successor". I did come in expecting something more similar to TA, but I ended up liking SupCom in it's own right.

In 2011 (or '12?) I was playing AoEII with a group of guys, and one of them asked if I'd tried Supreme Commander. I found the pair of games on Amazon for right around five dollars apiece and decided to give them another go. Played the vanilla campaign and loved it. Played the FA campaign, and thought 'well, at least the units are cool'. Downloaded Sorian AI. Then found out about FAF through TA4life's casts and started getting serious.
I never played TA, in fact I'd never heard of it until PA was announced :P.

Glad the group is keeping it alive, maybe sometime I'll learn how to play better.

Totally more impressed with it than Starcraft at the time, and I played both. Wondered why more people weren't hyped about TA compared to Starcraft.

We had failed to get beta keys so the frustration was big
Then we had to play at the parents' computer and there the problems started : lag land appeared! My brother played some skilled ranked until reaching the so incredible top 500 when i prefered at that time stay a good noob and play art of defense!

I was 12 when it was out, and I got it simply for the cool box art. I still have my original discs. What a game that was.

I anxiously awaited Supcom when I first saw the awesome trailer. Since it only showed the UEF and Cybran, I truly assumed it was still the Arm and Core. I got it shortly after it launched, but my computer couldn't run it. Something about "shadow rendering" or whatever when I tried to install it. I was in the service then, and right out of high school, so i didn't have much money to mess with my computer. I think I sat on Supcom for almost two years before I finally got to play it.
