Reclaim and rebuild some of your t1 mexes to make your opponent think that you are ecowhoring ;-)
Actually, that is a very good idea. :D

it i also pretty logical

This is a good idea. At present if a unit is within intel coverage and replaced with a higher tech. The icon reverts to the grey "unknown unit" contact. Because the first unit has ceased to exist and is replaced with a new radar contact.

But when there is no intel coverage, structures are displayed as historical intel. When the unit dies (or is upgraded and replaced) the player still gets the intel. Because they will see the old structure darken. As though it had been killed. The player is actually getting free intel.

Practical in game example: I scout my enemy early in the game. After a while I notice that the mex icons darken one by one. Firstly, I immediately know that he is eco-whoring and this informs my strategy. Secondly, I will build a TML and without scouting send a missile to each of the old mex locations to kill T2 mexes. I can do all this without continuous scouting and without intel coverage.

The thing is, the radar icon changes from that of a factory to that of a headquarters. The mouse-over still says "t1 naval factory", its just the radar icon that changes.

I'm sure this is true for the Seraphim t2 naval factory, I just observed this in a replay. Could be all the other factories are fine, but it seems the sort of thing you'd forget to do for all of them.

If unfixable, at least now everyone knows.
