This question is in the wrong place, needs to be in the tech support forum.

If your computer is now linked to his account, then he must login to FAF on another computer to release your computer for you to login on.

It's really convenient to host a game , but in the background watch another while waiting for the hosted game to fill.

Maybe I can do something if you give me your steamId (http://steamidfinder.com/)

It doesn't even need to be installed. So it can't be a corrupted cache.

If the check fails, your account is unlink to avoid further problem with the lobby. You can relink it as many time you want.

I got the confirmation that "your account is linked and logged out of FA forever ( I turned off auto log in)
I entered my details and logged in...but got an error that cant find forged alliance steam files.

I have logged in and checked files pointed to steam copy of Fa, I have checked that the files are no corrupted in steam (logging in into steam and checking file location and running interity verification)

I even went in and re linked my account, yet still comes stating my account is now unlinked as cant find file

Any advice, I have check my steam profile is not private all public?

Kind Regards

I have increase the time to 10 minutes. Can't do much more.

I can't check your steam account. As stated on the webpage, I don't have access to anything else than your steamId (it's a number, not a profile name).

I could access it (you can through a webpage, nothing hacky), but I won't do it, as I state that FAF won't access these data.

By doing that, you will be able to run several accounts on the same computer, as long as all these accounts are also linked to Steam.

The Steam account need to have a copy of Forged Alliance. It doesn't need to be installed.
The Steam account need to be public during the first login. You can set it back to private after the initial login.

Be careful :
If you try to log with a non-linked account on a computer that used a steam-linked account, you will not able to login!

there is no going back!
Once your account is tied to Steam, you can't unlink it!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your request has expired (60 seconds)

I received the above message and have tried twice to link my steam account, im sure I did it in under 60 seconds, worried if I keep attempting it wont work.

My steam login name is mark_gardner ....I got the password and human confirmation correct. My in game "steam name is Random_defeat can you please check if I managed to link correctly?

Kind Regards

I expect I did this back when this game was brought back to life as I recall finding this as I was "recommended" while still playing in GDP or what ever the old system was. At the time I jumped back n forth between the two. Like many un techy persons I really had know idea what I was logging into at the time or how it worked, in fact at the time it didn't work so well for me, and to be fair in the early days the interface was not like it is today thanks to the "unappreciated and taken for granted work" of the FA Forever team.

Call me naive but I really don't think that too many would be attempting to smurf, and for those whom do life as a new account is very hard, I am guilty of seeing low ranked newbies and going to other games so being a smurf must loose appeal quickly. I don't have the answer, however I think somewhere in the middle might work better? I don't mind the idea of linking to steam as an optional proof of anti smurf for those whom choose would be such a bad idea, or facebook etc..

Lastly I would ask that people whom are asking about this or debating the issue (mostly smurfs) are not treated poorly as I have been a quite member of this game community for years now, never warned caused issues or trouble just played and enjoyed the game, I never made the elusive(for me 1000) rank but I don't take it that serious I just enjoy the game. I play team games on setons, thermo and the odd ranked when games are quiet. I hope once my ban is lifted to play many more games and keep my head down and mouth shut, but that in itself seems a little wrong, truth is I never talk on the chat channel now for fear of offending an admin. Please forget the harsh rules for a few days and recall why this project was started. I hope it was so the admins, the player and everyone could enjoy one of the best games ever made.

Raving fan
