This is probably a better time to agree to disagree anyways, but I also feel that:

I saw posts below saying maybe people have legitimate reasons for not donating 5 euros. I'm very sympathetic to poverty, needing to feed your family etc. or anything like that. ZEP has put so much time and money into these projects, I feel like it's not unreasonable at all for him to hope that people who get a lot of enjoyment out of it to throw $5 into the servers etc. and dangle a carrot to help motivate people. If you're interested enough to follow the progress of GW and you aren't in very dire straits, why not throw the $5 into the pot?

Note: I personally haven't donated, and I feel like it's reasonable that I can't follow the alpha progress.

Fair point, that is annoying, but really it's a matter of priorites, I'm sure something like that will be implemented eventually.

By the way, consider that there may indeed be reasons why people will not / cannot pay the money and maybe, just maybe they are interested in *reading* (not playing) how the beta is going.

I don't really mind as such. Zep said no, and I'm ok with this. All I actually want is something done about the "recent forum posts".
Is it possible to make them dependent on whether you are authorised to read them? So if you were not, the ones you weren't allowed to read would not come up in the 5 recent threads on main page?

You can ask GW players in main chat if you want to know, but with out GW access, I imagine a lot of it wouldn't make sense.

And surely it's not too hard to set up a paypal account, or have a friend/relative use a credit/debit card to pay five euros to Zep?

As far as I can see:
You have to contribute to access the beta; that's fine. I understand this.
Making it so you have to pay to see how the beta is going...? Not so much.

Still it's annoying to click on "latest" and get "You are not authorised..." most of the time.

Can something be done about this?

i can tell that nothing really that important is going on in the galactic war alpha. just bugreports (they are also important but not in that way) and a post about balance. there are mostly things discussed that arent revolutionary

He's not suggesting letting people talk on the forum, only see what's been written.
