Thanks for the reply. I just needed to know because I was finding some inconsistency when playing with the AI, some maps I can play with 7 AI without problems while in others it gets pretty slow. I haven't played multiplayer yet because I rarely have the chance to play an entire game uninterrupted but I guess I'll give it a try.

AI sucks pretty much CPU from experience, so as long as you dont have an internetlag, multiplayers will run faster

In both cases your pc has to do the pathfinding, projectile calculations and what not for all the units (each of the players pc's calculates this themselves). If the units are controlled by AI, it also needs to do the AI-work. So, AI-games should be more taxing on cpu than multplayer games.

I was just wondering if playing the game against 7 AI with 1000 units each is more taxing on your system than playing a multiplayer game with 7 other people also with 1000 units each. I tried to find the answer to this question but other than some general wikipedia articles saying that usually multiplayer is more intensive for MMOs, I couldn't find anything specific about RTS games.
