Weird, it seems that people play FA to look at a read line hitting the ground, and it's outrageous to remove it.

You must be an alien :)

A red line that is more often than not invisible to the opponent, I would add. TAG_Rock also, who is a Cybran player to the heart told me the fx looked good, so I assumed it would not make such a fuss...

EDIT: it should also fix another issue : it should not kill missiles anymore.

than make it a continious beam and adjusting the dps

You are welcome to give it a try. I did what TAG_Rock asked me to do, he tested, it works, it's enough for me and for him who is pissed by this game for several years now. I don't mind that the fx if changed if the weapon works better. If your continuous beam fixes the bug too (I doubt it but I haven't tried), please provide the code / bp here or in this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3557
I will be tested.

From there, I think you can connect the dots.

Unless you build Cerberus in order to make 7-year old fireworks effects to contemplate.

I connected the dots, I was just hoping that people haven't fallen into the "gameplay balance is the only thing that matters" mindset. Looks like 'fixers' caring about the gameplay experience beyond their narrow concerns was too much to hope for.

I'll try to improve the fx later, for now it's a bug fix change. The beam is supposed to never miss, but it can't hit a moving target (it shoots ahead) 50% of the time. So instead of having 117 DPS the DPS ranges from 60 (and sometimes 0) to 117 DPS, depending on your luck. Luck should not be a parameter for a structure / unit that is supposed to have pinpoint accuracy and has lower DPS precisely because of this.

I care about how the game looks, not just how it plays. I hope you can be bothered to find the time to fix what is now broken. I DO like my seven year old effects.

Read the patch log ?

Sorry if take people are morons, but if they go directly to the forum to rant/whine without even reading the full change..

Sorry that I'm a "moron" but I can't seem to find anything discussing the "full change" other than the list in the what's new section of faf, which merely indicates that there was a change. I just played my first game with the new Cybran laser effects, and I'm wondering what justified them going from so cool to so goddamn ugly, so if you could maybe direct this moron to the relevant material...?
