funny enough the more i overclock the worse my rating.

im running an FX 6100 3,3 at ~ 300 score
while overclocking to 4,0 results in 390 score.... so there is clearly something wrong.

other benchmark test show a significant increase in performance if i overclock.

Just downloaded the link you provided, seems to work. Gimme a few minutes. Also, post your request in the "Lets make simspeed benchmarks" Thread. Quiet a few 3770ks and lots of high tier cpus were over there.

I downloaded and tried running your pack4 after I disabled Hyper threading. I have Windows 8; I run the file and it creates a 0byte html file with no data whatsoever. Think its a java issue, its hard to read the dialog it only shows for a sec.

You need to have Java. http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/ ... leId=75261 This is for x64 windows. You can verify it on the command line*1 by typing "java"

*1 Windows key + R, then type "cmd", then type "java".

In the simspeed benchmarks Im pretty sure a overclocked q6600 beats some i5s... Now, I'm a guy who went from a oc'ed q6600 to a 3770k. I know the difference, and its beyond noticeable.
Also, a Pentium showed better singlethread performance than that amd8core (food for thought)
Furthermore; to anyone thinking hyper threading has no benefit to gaming - hasn't tested with Forged Alliance. When I disable hyperthreading; my times for the simspeed benchmarks go right out to lunch, not even close to times recorded when its' on.

Can you run this? viewtopic.php?f=39&t=3514 It's a hyperthreading benchmark, and I still don't have enough samples to verify it's working properly. It looks like it's working properly however. Need few i5, i7, and FX-6300 or FX-83xx.

Q6600 had memory controller on MB and used DDR2, i5 has integrated memory controller and is using DDR3. Obviously there is large difference. IPC should be 1/4 better.

Enough already with the "i7" vs "i5" vs "i3" comparisons. It's like saying "my NVidia card is better than your ATI card" without actually saying which MODEL you have.
Well my benchmark shows difference between these CPU types. The resulting numbers would be within 1/5 of correct value.

Of course, supcom is using LUA scripting which slows stuff a lot, and these CPUs don't need to be utilized at full potential.

Lastly, playing a game of FA while your pc is set to do powersaving schemes at idle or low usage; FAIL - Get a program to monitor and track frequency of your cores. You'll find the clock jumps all over the place while playing FA; limiting performance. You will not get equal performance EVER while your pc is set to save you power.

Would there be any way to add a shortcut for this test to the lobby and extract the score from it? It would be a very accurate test because it incorporates all the factors, and encourage people to trun the graphics down.

way too complicated solution for a simple problem. the current approach of doing a synthetic benchmark is the right way to go. it is certainly gonna be accurate.

It's not more complicated than the current approach. All it needs to do is retrieve the number of units in game and an adjusted sim speed and divide one by the other. The more games you play the more faithfully does the simspeed/unit # benchmark reflect your actual cpu performance.

Failing that, why not just retrieve the CPU name from the windows registry (HKLM/HARDWARE/DESCRIPTION/System/CentralProcessor) or by some API, and present that when you mouse-over a player's name or ping? e.g. Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz
