how about hives placed next to a mex? they dont get any discount aswell, or?
it would be nice to place 3 teched up of those and a t3 landfac around a mex for lategame

hives have no benefit. that would be a too big disadvantage to all other factions coz hives can also support teching mex, assisting t4 build etc.

not sure if you are right Gowerly, will reply later

Edit: you tell it like you counting benefits per brick, but even with any assist you get 4 mass per second for free, isn't that so?
Not sure about mass stalling conditions

In that respect you are right, yes. However, the more you assist the building, the greater porportion of the build time is taken by the runoff period. For Air units this is not the case, obviously.

So 0.25 mass for t1
0.75 for t2
And 2.25 for t3
mass consumption of building * bonus%(t1 t2 t3) = mass bonus from mex connectin, and if it bigger then from connecting mass storage, obvius, it is better to connect like that
Or we can just go other way
For t1 mex connect all buildings with more then 3.333333 consumption gives more bonus then storage but you will never put a storage to t1 so connect whaever you want
For t2 all stuff thas gives you more then -5 is better to connect then a storage (-4 from t1 fac is close, also you can spam t1 sera arty -6 mass)
For t3 anything with more then -9 gives you more mass then storage
Storage near t3 mex gives 2.25 while brick/percival production should give 4 mass, 10 for nuke but i have not tested yet
So i hope now it is almost clear what is better...

Seems like it would be best at t1 when factories are unassisted. I've seen Setons front players using it early, with 4 land factories around a mex.

Then you can get really good discount and upgrade your factory sooner (since it'll be cheaper). Plenty of experiments can be tried on different maps.

However, you can also completely ignore the bonus and play like before, you won't be at a significant disadvantage, except on maps where you can link a factory to 4 mexes.

for the t3 factory surrounded by fabs u have to consider that u will have engenners supporting
this factory and they get no discount. and with no additional buildpower those t3 units take mutch too
long to build them.

Does anyone remember the name of the guy on the forums who GPG consulted when they buffed the energy storage adjacency and a bunch of other buffs (maybe the mass storage buff also)? He made some really amazing threads with crazy research that were fun to read.

Im guessing now that high level players are going to be creating allot more map specific opening build templates to account for all the different mass spot locations*
