Probably. I really don't see where the abuse is. GPG laid down most their staff you know ?.

I'm all for promotion. I like to keep my finger on the pulse. I think you both need to re-read what I said

BUT:

The title of this thread isn't "Hey look a new GPG game called Wildman" is it?

Holy freakin cow, you use this awesome matchmaking client which Ze_Pilot has made on his own time, which you did not have to pay into, and which has basically saved FA multiplayer, and you complain when the maker of it decides to use it as a platform to promote a game he would like to see made? You are under no obligation to have Wildman shoved down your throat, you are free to leave at any time, be my guest. So you choose to spite GPG, the company that made this awesome game called Supreme Commander, by not buying Wildman, because an unpaid fan tried to convince you it was worth getting? That makes no sense to me.

Who said anything about spiting GPG? I'm merely commenting that threads like "Get players to like Wildman" (not "promote or educate people about wildman") will not influence my purchasing decisions.

When there are posts/MOTDs like "save GPG, support Wildman" I think, wait, where is GPG being trouble in this equation? Why am I being told this? I feel extorted and like my trust (as a consumer of FAF) is being abused. Hence I "kinda resent it". Is there something wrong with feeling this way? In this day & age it is only prudent to want to know exactly how our personal information is being used.

I think it's great that you promote other GPG titles - but there should be a separation between Church and State so to speak.

Finally, I think my last point is sentimental. I remember what SupCom2 did to the FA scene, and what a let down it was. Each time I log in and see something about wildman or PA, it reminds me of that - and how all good things must come to an end. I don't want to be reminded of that as I struggle to get a game during Australian daylight, or watch the ladder hollowing out. So perhaps what I resent is that every time I see another piece of Wildman or PA promo it reminds me that that end is inching closer. I'd prefer to not to be reminded of that.

unfortunally this is too long to put it as my signature, however it probably wont matter anyway (really unfortunate) as they only have ~450.000 so far

- I'm not paid to "advert" PA or Wildman.
- There was three news. First one was my personal feeling about GPG situation and how I feel about them (http://www.faforever.com/?p=567) , the second was a public answer from Chris Taylor + more of my personal feeling about CT games (http://www.faforever.com/?p=571), both not even directly related to wildman.

Yes, there was some retweet in MY tweeter account, and some repost on the facebook page : You have the right to unfollow both if you don't like what you see there. It's not tied to your FAF account, and you don't need them to play.

If you are against solidarity, because that's all this is, not advertising (it's not selling anything), it's really sad for you.

If the FAF server was on the verge of closing for some reason, I would be really happy that another media closely related to FA make some noise about it to save us, not you ?

You could just get a debit card? Saying "built for a nation where everyone has credit cards" is like calling the U.S a nation built for people who have money, the Earth is a planet built for organisms that breathe oxygen or computers are built for people who use keyboards. If you can't get a decent electronic funds transfer option, that's kinda on you.

What I don't get about all of this is : Why is GPG in trouble because they are crowdsourcing their latest title? There seems to be a) a massive advertisement that GPG is in trouble on FAF, that doesn't really correlate with anything I have read elsewhere.

And secondly, I kinda resent being advertised to by FAF. I didn't join up here to hear up about touted replacements to my beloved franchise. if wildman were a mixture between supreme commander and rise of nations, it would be awesome !!!
if it is a RPG game without strategic zoom and only a couple of new technologies, which you can conquer from enemies, it is IMO lame...

so why is CT still not telling us what wildman really is?
holding back with information in order to have update material is a bad idea (as we can see). CT just does not seem to have learned this...

They have done a MUCH better job describing the game in the updated(today) video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBBDO82ZWXQ. I would give it a look! It's finally gotten to the point where my friends understand what Wildman is.

The kickstarter was planned horribly in my opinion, with very little information about the project actually given and that is exactly why it stalled so hard. If GPG had just used the intro video they put up now, as well as the project mercury demo, people would throw money at them! I know I would! I still will because I love GPG! Personally Wildman grew on me as CT explained it more and more and I think if everyone just gave it a chance and watched the video updates they will see how awesome of a concept it really is!
