So yes, it's virtually possible to generate a map procedurally.
The problem is that you have to add trees, rocks, mass spots,... So it cannot be entirely procedural.

Unless you code that too, but I don't know if it worth the effort.

I was about to redirect Corbeau here, but I needed to be sure that A. This site was registration process was seamless. And B. There was a discussion on map-maping. I tried to find an answer to his specific problem, but didn't seem to find it.

Anyway, I'll probably try and have a multiplayer match this weekend. Just want to finish saying there's lots of interesting games receiving the let's play treatment there, including Total Annihilation. And if anyone gets blocked, the LP Archives are open to all, they store finished Let's Plays there:

I visited your thread on Something Awful forums, interesting, unfortunately you have to pay a fee to post there.

While reading I noticed that a few people there (Corbeau one of them) were curious to give SupCom another try multiplayer wise. It would be nice of you to redirect them here on faf. Maybe you could advertise faf there. Faf is not only a fantastic multiplayer client but also a patch to the game still in progress (bugfixes, new graphical improvements, balance changes) and the repository on all the maps (old and new ones) for the game.

The forums of faf are alive with people able to answer all questions (Corbeau question on map editor couuld be answered here).

I don't know if you are aware of it but FAF is about to see a major evolution of galactic proportions, this projest is actually community funded, you could see all the details here : http://www.indiegogo.com/fafgw?c=home
Any help and advertisement on that front is very welcomed.

And of course you are very welcomed to join us here and post, SCFA need all the people out there to keep it going. ;)

One last bit of information :

gpg forums are still online and the repository of a lot of information, some people still post there and you could get an answer or two there : http://forums.gaspowered.com/

SupCom Mods on modb and gpgnet forums :

Since then I've found about Forged Alliance Forever while doing research for the Let's Play and now here I am.

Before anything I'd like to say I was ecstatic to find out that the Forged Alliance online scene was revived. I feared that it was dead for good when GPG.net went down. You guys did and are doing a terrific job. I may not have played a lot of multiplayer outside LAN (because being in the southern hemisphere means my online experience with Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance was mostly being kicked for my ping :( ), but I find it awesome nonetheless to find so many people caring so much for this amazing game. What I'm trying to say is Kudos to you all. You are awesome.

I started the LP because of my profound love of this game and wanted to share this love. I'm here to invite anyone who'd care to go and join in the discussion. Feel free to criticize me and share your gaming experience. I already have an old pro following my thread, but I'd love to have the current pros joining in as well.

Though there might be some issues in accessing the forums without an account. I'm not really sure how limited it is, since I've accessed the site before making my account, but occasionally I'd get blocked. If you don't have an account on Something Awful and can't view the LP, don't feel obligated.

Here's the link.

Thank you for your time. Even if you don't care for LPs and don't care to follow the thread. Maybe I'll become a regular here.
