An understatement if I ever saw one.

This is misrepresentation.

plain and simple.

With an objective and honest mindset it's impossible to say : "yeah there's this.... and between this... or faf... same difference, reeeeeeeeeally"

FaF is not just a multiplayer solution. not since 2009.

Mentioning gameranger is a great idea and I'm surprised no one thought of it earlier, massively disappointed in myself actually.
Gameranger is a popular software used to play old games online. It has a massive list of supported games and when gamespot got shut down even EA contributed to gameranger with permissions etc
It's how total annihilation gets played and is how I would have a 16player game of LOUD
the bad news for gog post should be amended to reference this silver lining. right now its essentially spreading misinformation about the current ability of gog players to play online. because they can play online and here's how ;). tis a shame it's not faf but it is what it is
im not suggesting a new news post, just an amendment to the current one.
for google

If at any point the FAF community can weight in to help this thing progress, I think we should. Whether it's via a petition or any other way to show there are a lot of people behind this.

Let us know if anything like that is planned in the near future to help make this GoG Link (or remove the link altogether) happen.

GOG desires Square Enix to give official permission for FAF. If that happens, they can openly treat us as a multiplayer service and it also means steamlink is no longer needed as Square Enix will not fault us over IP distribution concerns. If it does not go through, then it comes down to GOG offering us a method to do a “GOGlink” similar to how we do a steamlink. This does not currently exist, and so it would require GOG to work out a way for us to implement it. But regardless, we cannot move forward in anything without the work of another party.

Though we are keeping in contact with GOG to resolve the issues as smoothly as possible.

thats exactly what I´m thinking about.
I installed the game a few hours ago after not playing it for several months. I talked over a friend of mine buying it on GOG after I saw the sale (I got Total Annihilation there for free).
He now bought the game and after installing FAF again I realised that something has been changed...

Off course its not expensive on steam. There is a sale, too. It´s about 7€.

But it is annoying.

So please make this a top priority.

Thanks a lot for all of your work.

Linus from Linus tech tips (1M followers on twitter and 11.1M subscribers on youtube!!!!) just tweeted a insanely positive tweet about FAF : https://twitter.com/LinusTech/status/12 ... ode%3Dtrue

while linking the new GOG article about Chris Taylor's legacy : https://www.gog.com/news/the_story_of_s ... tegy_games

upwards of 600 people have liked the tweet and a ton of new people (on GOG and outside of GOG that are coming to GOG to purchase it) are getting all hyped about Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance and discovering it for the first time but won't be able to experience SupCom/FA as it's intended : with the FAF updates, bugfixes and 13 years of diverse improvements.

This is a tragedy we need to make our top priority.

I'm a steam fanboy but FAF is supposed to be agnostic to these things.

I've convinced a couple a friend to buy the game on GoG and I was quite surprise to see that it was not compatible any more. Is there a workaround ? Can I install an older version of FAF maybe ?
Thanks !

And so far there is no possibility to make a gog-link.
