Let's look at one of the biggest RTS success, the most played game in 1v1, in the last 5 years : Starcraft 2.
When you think of starcraft, you probably think two things :
- Pro-gaming
- Great support.
The two are probably linked. Without constant evolution to make the balance better, the game would have been lost in the limbo very fast.

That 43 patches in 2 years.
In these 43, 22 where balance changes.
For FAF, It's easy to count. In one year, we have made 15 patches.
In these 15 patches, 5 had balance changes, and 4 were released to fix a previous patch mistake some hours later.
And that's after 4 years with not a single patch.
Now you may think that we've changed a lot of things, but when you look back, it's not that much.
In the future, we will keep balancing the game, one way on another. Not doing that is dying. But the changes will be smaller as the "big job" is done now.Statistics: Posted by Ze_PilOt — 29 Aug 2012, 14:27
