And you base “currently policy is that you can’t lose your seat unless you want to give it up” on what, exactly?

The only seats that have been discussed are Promo/Player/Maps because the others require a specialized userbase that deals with electing a new person to the position.

Player/Maps would be elected yearly around April and Promo is chosen by the Council itself because it involves access to a bunch of FAF media and the person that gets access to it needs to be someone the Council feels will handle it responsibly.

Personally, I’d rather all three be up for election but that was what we agreed on.

It's a waste of time to hold regular elections when the candidate pool is so small.

If someone wants a position, they can challenge and call for an election, I guess? Also, nothing stopping them from doing the work as a team member, I assume a challenge would only be desired if there's a serious disagreement in direction, in which case a "hostile takeover" might not be so good anyways?

Turns out elections are harder than the """""council""""" debating for 3 months.
Also I don't think they're in a rush to start putting up the old guard when they still have 2-3 positions playing musical chairs as is

So, if I recall this accurately, it has been mentioned/discussed for probably over a year now about having regular elections. Lets say to either reconfirm councilors' positions, or to give other members of the community a chance to bring something new or different to the table that is not supported by the current council people but other people may actually want. Yet the current policy still seems to be that as long as someone doesn’t want to give up his seat, there are no “elections”. Is this ever going to happen or is there no desire for council people to face public opinion?
