No, what you're suggesting is not better, just different. Since you astutely saw through my sarcasm that using the engies to crash your economy is not REALLY an option, the only real option is to reclaim, and if each side gets the same 2 engies and the same reclaim, there's not much point. There is ample depth in the build order now, choosing land/air, choosing scouts/engies/hunters/tanks/aa, and how many. Put down the dream pipe.

What you could do with 2 engineers in the beginning, is sending them out to reclaim, or they are headed to an important location. Then the LABs will catch up and protecting them is more important then ever. If you want to use your 2 engies on ruining your economy, be my guest. Also you could spend the money you would on engineers on some few extra LABs instead, making it more actionbased in the start.

In short there are many things you can do with them, many locations they could be sent too, arriving just in time for there to be economy for them. But it is not noob friendly, which is why I like it the way it is. Would be good for watching though, absolutely. Damn, now I even want this!

If you don't already have more things to do for the first 30 seconds than you have time for, then you need to start finding them. :)

It could add quite a few nice strategic variations for a lot of maps making games more diverse and more fun

It's not boring at all. It's quite interesting to find new builds to always get a better development in the long run. There are many things to do in the beginning.

In my gold FA age, I spent literally hours trying to perfect build.
It's quite interesting to see what impact does the very beginning of different builds have on your eco at 20min.

Trying and trying to gain a few secs to build a faster t2 mex, a faster transport or whatever can be quite rewarding when you finally achieve it :D
