Even IF shield bounce would destroy the scout plane and thus make it not provide any intel from now on the point is that it already DID PROVIDE so much intel on the way there
Your shield is (hopefully) on the ground while scout/spy planes have an elevation of 20/25. By the time they impact on the shield they've already travelled pretty damn far. At best you can reduce the area they can provide intel on by 5% or so.

Also don't forget that the intel the crashing unit provides is not just vision but also radar/sonar/omni and a scout has 65 radar range/a spy plane has 96 radar range.

probably not worse per se but the difference in terms of how much vision you gain from the dead descending air unit prop is too little to be of any significance when comparing shield bounce and no bounce

you're dodging the issue here.

look I get it, this is going to happen rarely, but you're downplaying that when it does happen it's going to matter the most.

it's gonna be pro level play and it's going to mean a successful scout where the player was pulling every possible effort to render that impossible and where it's going to cost him the game.

I'm not saying the possible examples are what matter here. I'm saying a behavior that's in a way game-breaking or partially should not be neglected. we want to created a balanced experience.

there's good solutions proposed in this thread. no reason to leave things as is in my humble opinion.

bounce is a good feature IMO. vision kill on bounce is a good idea IMO.

So have I understood how shield bounce works wrong and they just continue the same path through the shield most of the time or is there something else I(or you I suppose) am missing here?

If they were going to land behind or in the middle of a T3 UEF/Seraphim shield and land in the front of the shield instead, I'd call that a meaningful difference.

Or do they still land inside the shield?

Hmmm, would the shield bounce effect remove this effect?

that could be a fun tid-bit and a nice middle ground.

i get that it is not very intuitive that your base gets scouted by a crashing scout plane that you shut down at your line of defense but imo you'll have to deal with that and maybe kill scouts earlier if you want to hide a surprise attack

i hope planes giving some intel while crashing doesn't bother you too much
imo removing this "feature" from the game would make defending easier and i'm not sure why we should do that

Though other planes that specifically do not have such ability shouldn't provide intel after their sensor package has been turned into a glowing hole from a direct hit from a SAM
