Well gee guys, I wonder what could possibly be done about that!?

So what I'm saying is this issue started happening after a very specific FAF update (like all other issues) viewtopic.php?f=37&t=13456 not a mod update and like you thoughtfully pointed out it's an UI mod using sim callbacks to share units so perhaps you might want to see what was changed in that callback that caused the mod to suddenly stop working correctly or provide the mod author a changelog to fix it? Just a thought idk or maybe we say f*** it and move on.

Share until death is broken again as was a few months ago I think that's a pretty big problem. I would provide you with a replay id but unfortunately replay vault is not working and I can only search my own games.

//edit 6205762-BenDover.fafreplay ecomanager v8, supreme economy 2.2 v2, idle engineers v3, common mod tools v1 should give anyone who's interested in fixing this a heads up.

//6205806-BenDover.fafreplay common mod tools v1, ecomanager v8 only, doesn't happen without mods but requires further testing to confirm. This is going to make lots of people unhappy should you ban the mod........ I would try to remove the auto gifting units from ecomanager first I think I saw something like that in the code.

Well, what can I say, BenDover was always quite an ignorant fool... He is right about one thing - most people don't care about testing new features. So I have a practical suggestion: when a patch is created, let it be an announcement that will hang for a week and it will be in FAF Beta, as usual. If less than 50 feedbacks (change this minimum feedback limit at will) are received, the patch goes on to become FAF for 1 week. Afterwards, if many negative feedbacks are gathered, it is cancelled and remade. If the feedback is mostly positive, the patch stays. The process then repeats - 1 week of the new patch being in the default FAF, feedback gathering over the week, patch adjustments and so on for as long as necessary.

Rolling it back is normally pointless. It takes more effort to do that than to fix the handful of tiny issues that popped up. Might as well hotfix the next day like we do. As for advance warning:

Have you ever heard of "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? There are improvements and there is turning the entire game into your own playground. Did you know phantom mod is broken after yesterday's update again? I guess not. Chat is broken, new changes not tested properly (or broken intentionally to allow people to scroll through old messages, maybe it was the only way idk).
I am all for pushing for new ideas and expanding frontiers as long as it has at least some merit and I am sure it won't affect other things because development where every update introduces 5 new features while 4 are broken and the other one breaks 10 existing features is bad development.

Oh stop being so dramatic. And check your numbers instead of exaggerating. Literally hundreds of features have been added to FAF. There have been more than 4500 changes. In all that time, all those years, most updates have a few issues that are addressed the next day, and only a very small handful of problems have been introduced which were broken for any length of time in the entire development history. Like, less than 20 that I can think of. Out of literally thousands of changes. That's a remarkable record, and I'd wager unparalleled by any other community effort.

Phantom isn't broken that I'm aware of.
Chat break was unintentional and could have been caught with more testing (Lesson: Perhaps you should join the test team and help). It came about while implementing a highly requested feature, addressing a very common complaint.

I'm sick of whiners using exaggerated nonsense arguments that a three year old could instantly debunk. Eugh.

Or do you mean the fact that the chat doesn't automatically drop down when somebody writes something while you're checking old messages?
Cause thats a feature.
(already had feedback that it should drop down when you write something yourself)

Takes pioneers to push for new ideas. Some turn out to be bad, ok, happens. I for one am glad we have people who keep contributing and face the criticism here - often brought forward in a counterproductive and rather offensive way.

Putting as much effort in getting testers for every change in FAF is unreasonable and probably wouldn't even help us since people would get fed up with testing any feature very quick.
There is room for improvements in gathering feedback for changes but it's not quite that easy.
