The hotbuild key bindings that are integrated into faf do work at the start of the game.

What would be interesting to know is where in the lua code the keybindings are initiated or something.
If it were possible to do that in hotbuildex, then we would have a working solution to customize the key layout.

Icedreamer, do you have any idea where to look in the code?

Been reading a bit on the forum and also read the patch 3680 deployment info.
I guess I have just been doing something very similar to hotbuildex.

Before hotbuild was integrated into faf I used to have a modified hotbuild version, just a modifed layout.
After hotbuild was integrated into faf I probably stumbled upon hotbuildex and modified that.

The problem with hotbuildex was that you had to use F1 at the start of every game to open the key binding menu and close it again to enable the key bindings.
But if I used the keys that were in the hotbuilding.tab that was integrated in the faf client, then I did not have that problem.
So I ended up changing hotbuildex into using the faf build in keys and customizing them to my needs while having them working at the start of the game.

The thing is that I need a couple more keys to bind as faf has added units/buildings, so I am looking for a way to get more keys working under the integrated hotbuild.

Hope that makes sense :)

Ill try the new hotbuildex in combination with the new client patch in the near future and see how and if it works.
I have already been trying to find you in #Aeolus to see if I could perhaps explain it to you in chat or voicechat.
But I have not seen you around yet.

and i repeat myself again but auto OC is faster than manual OC right now since it remove some UI lag (or something like that)

It would be much nicer if it were possible to change the layout instead of choosing a preset.

I have tried to get my old layout working but it seems hotbuild uses new variables like 'builders' instead of '_Zulan_13_E' etc
After some fiddling I managed to add new variables and bind some actions to them, they work only after I use a build in hotbuild key like "builders"
It seems the keys are initialised or something in the code, but I do not really know where that happens.
Also I saw that keybindings are shown in the buildmenu, which also does not appear for the variables I introduced.

Can you give me any clue where to look for it?
Or should I make a post in the mod section?
