Get your friend that has the faf client to get all the necessary files:
  • He should get uptodate patch by hosting a coop game and faf game (game launch not required)
  • He should get all the coop missions by hosting a game for each mission which should download all the required data for each mission (again no game launch required)

Now that he has downloaded everything:
He should give you both this folder :
C:\ProgramData\FAForever
and
Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Maps

Then you make the shorcut according to the wiki:
http://wiki.faforever.com/index.php?tit ... t_missions

And you start the shortcut and go into skirmish and there you can choose from any of the available maps.

If you're stuck at connecting then you could try to go to this file :
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Game.prefs
Make a copy just in case you f*** it up.
Then open the original one in notepad or something and change
Code:
LastScenario = YOURLASTMAP,

into

Code:
LastScenario = '/maps/scca_coop_e01/scca_coop_e01_scenario.lua',

Now try the shortcut again. If anything is still not working then you should give is some more information about it.

OR
You just download the client yourself and play solo through the client.
Which should be a lot easier.

So how would one do a single user game and do the meltdown mission for example with no other changes?

So are you saying missions are all working using the original missions and not using the FAF client nor COOP mode? I could note get the game loaded into COOP mode hence trying to get this revived, excellent game and excellent patches making it even more playable.

I am still confused at what you want.

How could it stop working if you never used faf client or coop?
The files shouldn't have changed at all then.
So what changed?

And explain what you are doing exactly and what isn't working properly.
So we can understand your problem and help you fix it.

Here's what has happened, we've been using FAF version of SC for a while, one of my colleagues has the FAF client and regularly updates because he likes to be cutting edge and have the best things however others of us really enjoyed playing the missions, at some point last year the missions stopped expanding after a patch therefore we're wanting to get back to that patch level so our missions expand again.

So my colleague updates his FAF SC via his FAF client and copies the whole FAFOREVER folder to our machines, this is how we update.

What we are trying to do is get back to a version from last year where missions were working perfectly. Mission of for example "overload" wont expand but units do come through, brackman lands and does his stuff and all his unit go off screen when attacking, as before you then get hit hard on the coastal side by stuff you can't see due to no expansion.

So I've got the "fa-3654" patch files and I need to find out how to install this to my FAFOREVER folder?

Cheers and I appreciate.

i think it's unreasonable to expect new coop missions to work with old patches
if they don't work on faf you can report that if you want to play the steam version/retail then you can do that too

As said we don't want to use COOP therefore we're not expecting anything on the COOP version, but thanks for your input.

@tatsu don't know why you confuse % with modulo really.
This is how more than 100% works:

YEs it was mathematically wrong of me. I'm sorry. but heed the context of what was said in this thread. 100% certainty. now if you say i have one whole certainty about this matter or if you say i am half-certain about this matter I still follow but if you say I am one thousand certains... then you kinda lost me. :P

seems to me like % is actually setting a mod in this case :P

yes this is way off topic and it's all my fault I'm sorry :)

I agree whatever it is he wants to do it can necessarily be done (and be done better) in current faf.
