I did and as Pavese said, it took an incredible amount of time. If you'd rush a gate by yourself, with the rocks, PDs and original gate as boost, you'd probably be even faster. Additionally, it costs a lot of energy to capture the gate (I don't think the player had that amount and he failed to build enough Pgens while he was capturing the gate). While the player was waiting for his SCU, he was basically overrun by the mantii. The SCU just saved his ass, whereas a proper concentration on the earlier units would've easily won him the game.

Either this is a myth or it was a hell of a boring game. Killing the thing and boost your eco is always the better option.

I am a fan of Syrtis Major too (as listed on my yellow post-it note of maps I like to host); it is surprising how often the gateway at the centre is left unreclaimed due to fierce battles going on elsewhere on the map.

I don’t often see many ‘Desert Duals’ apart from those hosted by myself or friend, IMO probably one of the best 2v2 maps. :D

Ha, never noticed that. But if I get permission from the maker of this map I might make a 1v1 version.

Tag_voi_vittu. And yea i like that one too. But i also lile haven reef and another 40k lad map called ophir chasm. Despite its size the bases are only 15k apart and the extra space gives you LOTS of options. Its a 6 player map but the bases are in 2v2v2 formation so it works great for 1v1 as there is always an epic fight for the top base.

Voi vittu is a great map but it's not the one I'm talking about. The one I was talking about has a UEF artillery wreck on the island in the middle, and NO land bridges between the spawns.

For me in 1v1 and 2v2, 'Eye of the Storm' is among the very best maps in the whole game. It seems to be highly regarded by players, and it started to really show its potential with the balance changes by late 3599, but I hardly ever see it played now, which is a huge shame. It is one of the most varied maps in the game, at high level I have seen T1 Land spam, drops, T2 Navy, T2/3 Land, Air all win here, and some games feature all these elements. Would be great to see this feature more prominently in upcoming tournies.

Secondly, I would love to see more games on 'Syrtis Major'. I can't really make a case for this map in the way that I can EOTS, but its a map I've seen some of the most memorable and oddball matches on. Again, this was a popular map circa 3598, but seems to have all but fallen off the earth.

Interested to hear others opinions.
