we don't need to.

this has to be one of the most frequently on sale steam game and when it's on sale it's under 2€ (or 3€ depending on the sale) when it's not it's 10€ never 20

on STEAM STORE.

you know what it doesn't even matter. it's very easy to have that number be pulled automatically from steam store page when the page loads.

class="game_purchase_price price"
Code:
$(function() {
    snippet = $('.game_purchase_price').html;
    $.post('http://store.steampowered.com/app/9420/', {content: snippet});
});

Of course balance changes which have made the game unstable for people to play in is not helping at all. What sociologically has been studied is that people like stability, because even though its is enjoyable to learn the game when you start, it is not enjoyable to relearn it every 2 months when the balance terrorists change the entire game.

BS
Shaking up the status quo is really helping, it gave me an incentive to play simply because I'm not the only one who has to learn some things.
But looking from the perspective of a long time RTS player, the FAF balance is still pretty bad. It has improved a lot but it still has a long way to go imho.

But if both links sell it for a price of half or less, i'm not sure why you talk about 20 instead of 10... Basicly double the cost...

It's a tricky decision how to point to where you can get it, but maybe you can include that you can use the cd key of the game to get it on steam without paying, that was something i didnt know and surely people who have a faulty cd that doesnt work anymore like me will be happy to get back on at no cost.

I personally am the kind of noob type buyer who sees a link to steam with it at $20 and doesnt think to look around to see if any other sources sells the same key for less :)
So maybe giving some more info about how to get it without appearing to point out only 2 possible sources would give enough hint to people that they can shop around and get a better deal. Then again with it currently at about $8.50 - 10.00 on the 2 mentioned sources, it is well under $20 currently. Lets call ithe buying process freedom of choice :)

I agree with some points EvilDrew brought up, some have already been discussed with people making the website. Like the 20$ pricetag, for me it also seems too high, I remember it took me an extra month or two before I actually bought the game from steam, after all it is an old game. If I knew I could get it for 2-3$ I would've bought it on the spot I found FAF.

We just need to help new potential players make the right choice, low price means low risk and will remove the barrier of entry for some. On the other hand if they dont like it, they might be quicker to dump it, so in theory maybe we increase retention by advertising the higher price but have lower retention and more unique users over time if we promote the lower price tags.

I actually bought my steam game on ebay for €5 from some opportunist i guess and then when i saw the kinguin cheap ass price few months later so i got some more for a friend and another for my brother :)

Soon is the word of choice since I joined the dev team in May :mrgreen:. But yes, we are closer than ever before.

I think some simple things could be changed on that website to improve it.

Screenshots
Multiplayer:
*Currently it is up to 16 players
*screenshot of names is a bad choice (it conveys no meaning to new people seeing some in game names), rather show the client (play tab) to show the games being hosted with variety of maps and highlight "create custom game" and game types (beta etc)
Co-Op
SCreenshot not conveying the message
*maybe use a screenshot of 2 ACU side by side overcharging an exp or something
Modding
+good picture
*include mention of map making somewhere
Community
*friendlist community? -_________-
-Maybe point out gamers of all kind (for inclusiveness) i.e. competitive, and causal (to use positive terms)

Other:
1 page
*not clear that you can scroll down
*looks empty, but main picture looks awesome
*Maybe some videos like in the main menu of the game on the bottom left and right of the first page could fill it up.
*Leaderboards out of date
*<$20 price guidance is not good, i bought a copy for €1.50 for my brother on Kinguin in 2014 i believe, people might look at a 10 year old game and think $20 is a bit much, we need to lower the perceived cost.
*Maybe link to the current cheapest offer for FAF, updated every week or so.

FA €2.64 right now on Kinguin, that's about $2.75
