It could be a whole host of things. Maybe they overclocked their systems more, or just have newer CPUs with better IPC. I do not know how much ping goes into the equation. It could also be other processes competing with FA for CPU cache (if FA is cache limited that is).

and it's really brilliant but with bigger more "populated" setons games i am one of those who do slow down to -2 /-1 though i'm never the slowest.

Not necessarily. If the CPU has to wait a lot because of cache misses, the i7-5775C might be faster.

I am also unsure as to why the Skylake is shown as slower at the same clock. It should have some IPC improvements, maybe just not for the instructions of PassMark? Or maybe because the first DDR4 modules had slightly more latency then DDR3?

I also have an i3-4160 @3.6ghz and the cpu score is ~170, and I'm almost always the last one to slow down, unless someone else has some i9-7303938181k overclocked to 666ghz

"By best, less expensive" do you really mean it to be the best in terms of PERFORMANCE for FAF or best in terms of value for money for SUPCOM?

(check Single Thread Rating)

The best single thread CPU you can get now is a Intel Core i7-4790K (at 4ghz). 1.5x faster than the AMD 5Ghz one.
Also consume 3x less energy.

If you want the best, less expensive CPU for supcom : The Pentium G3220 @ 3.00GHz (80 dollars).
But it will suck at about everything else :)

should I revise it to 4Ghz?

thing is i just played a 16 player game (desyncs towards the middle unfortunately)
http://content.faforever.com/faf/vault/ ... id=5205073

and a 14 player (this one didn't desync) (plus a youtube POV that isn't mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVkBZq-cx9M )
http://content.faforever.com/faf/vault/ ... id=5204847

and even on the 16p (i must've gotten lucky and drawn only real good cpu people) the game ran +0 the entire 40 minutes and -1 for air fights.

and only the 14player one initially showed internet lag but the player causing it promply timed out and got kicked so that resolved itself.

honestly i'm blown away at how well this runs.
