The game had the option to just quit if there was such a douchebag, w/o rating affected.

Are you suggesting that Teamwork is bad? And that teams leaving early because they couldn't handle an early assault, is a good thing?

I think most of us have done this at some point. For example if you like 1400+ Setons and you're a mere 1400 you dont want to drop down to 1300 and miss out playing with the decent people. Yet you might join a game to discover you have a total noob on your side in an important slot threatening your rank.

I'd say with players ranked at least 1200 the chance of getting someone who is bad is low. They might not be great but they have a good idea of what they should be doing. <1200 you get some that know how to go about playing but you spot that most have knowledge gaps. And <1000 those gaps start becoming bigger than the knowledge they actually have. Thats not good if you're playing against your favourite, well known, cut throat opponents.

If someone forces rankedness by suiciding their ACU into e.g. enemy PD, that's their own fault. Their team probably isn't winning anyway, so what'd be the motivation? To tank rating?

You can tank rating by just waiting out the limit and then ctrl+k'ing anyway.

From the POV of remaining players, the ACU of any player who quits will self destruct. Even when the result of a disconnect.

Even if you leave the game. If one of your team members remains and continues to fight for longer than the requisite time and looses you will receive a negative rating once the game is finished.

MORAL TO THE STORY: Don't leave the game. You have no control over what your team mates will do after you're gone.
